Bank accounts are a great way to keep your money secure, while still being easily accessible for everyday spending. The ANZ Student Access Advantage account does just that, and comes with a $0 account fees for students and people aged under 25. You’ll also be able to use your debit card to make withdrawals at overseas ATMs, but if you do, be aware of the $5 overseas ATM fee and 3% foreign exchange commission.

Key features

If you're a full-time student or under 25 years of age and looking for a solid everyday bank account to stash your cash in, then the ANZ Student Access Advantage account might be just the thing you're after. If you fit this criteria, the monthly account fee will be waived. However, you'll need to show a valid student card or ID to an ANZ representative at the start of each year to be eligible.

When you open this account, all customers can request the ANZ Access Visa Debit card at no cost. The new accessibility features on this card make it easier for vision-impaired customers to use, so they can get swiping and tapping.

There’s no minimum account balance required to open an ANZ Student Access Advantage account. If you keep $50,000 - $99,999 in the account then you’ll earn 0.01% p.a. in interest, or 0.02% if you have more than $100,000 in your account. Although, if you've got savings reaching this mark you might want to consider keeping your money in a high-interest savings account for a better return on your money.

If you’re travelling internationally, you’ll still be able to use your debit card, however, watch out for the $5 overseas ATM fees and 3.00% foreign exchange commission.

Who is it good for

Long story short, students and young adults. With no monthly account fees to worry about, if you're a student or under 25, then the ANZ Student Access Advantage account is a great everyday account option and will save you $5 a month as opposed to the standard ANZ Access Advantage account.

Any catches

With the 3.00% foreign exchange commission and $5 overseas ATM fee, withdrawing cash from the ANZ Student Access Advantage account while overseas can become a little costly.
