The BankSA Complete Freedom Account certainly gives you complete freedom over your money, with cardless cash withdrawals, fee free internet and mobile banking, as well as customised SMS and email alerts. On top of this you’ll have access to over 3,000 St. George and partner ATMs around Australia. There's also no monthly account keeping fee to worry about!
The BankSA Complete Freedom Account has one of the largest ATM networks in Australia with free withdrawals from BankSA, Bank Of Melbourne, and Westpac ATMs. You can also access your cash through phone and internet banking, in branch or via EFTPOS. Plus, this account does not charge a monthly account keeping fee, so that's one less fee to worry about!
The bank account comes with a Visa Debit Card, which means you can shop anywhere Visa is accepted around the world. Plus you’ll be able to make “tap and go” purchases in Australia, thanks to Visa payWave functionality.
If you love the convenience of paying with your smartphone, you'll be pleased to know the BankSA Complete Freedom Account is also compatible with multiple contactless payment options including Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayID and Samsung Pay.
There’s no need to worry about security either, as the bank account comes with BankSA Fraud Money Back Guarantee. In addition BankSA Secure guards both your information and finances with rigorous security measures, such as encryption technology.
As with many standard bank accounts, the BankSA Complete Freedom Account isn’t specifically designed for overseas spending. It comes with a 3.00% currency conversion commission, as well as a $5 overseas ATM withdrawal fee at any ATM outside the Global ATM Alliance, which could quickly take a chunk out of those travel savings, if used frequently. If you’re in the market for a travel friendly bank account, compare deals in our travel debit card section.
Also keep in mind, the bank account pays no interest so it’s best to keep the bulk of your funds in a linked high interest savings account and transfer across.
The BankSA Complete Freedom Account is an ideal choice if you’re looking for easy, around the clock access to your green.
There is a $4 periodical payment fee, for payments made to accounts outside of the BankSA, Bank of Melbourne or St.George networks. This means if you require BankSA to transfer your money to another account on a regular basis on your behalf, it will bill you $4 every time the transaction occurs. You can avoid this fee by doing the transfer via online banking yourself.

I don't like this BankSA because they have no compassion for their vulnerable customers. I visited a Westpac Group ATM at Garbutt to withdraw funds for my essential heart failure medication. An error message displayed and the ATM provided a receipt saying funds were not delivered. I rang the ATM provider (Precinct) and was told they could see the dispenser error and that I would need to contact my BankSA to have my funds returned to me. I rang the BankSA and was told they would need 21 to 45 days to return my money. The next day I visited the Westpac branch and was told the same thing 21 to 45 days to return my money after waiting for 45 minutes. I then made a fuss and spoke to all the customers entering the branch warning them that when Westpac ATM have a dispenser error they keep your money for 21 to 45days. Because I became vocal and gave Westpac Group a bad wrap the Manager finally came out and gave me the funds they had sdebited from my account..
