      Just think the fees for over drawing are way too high. And phone staff ain't that helpful and they tend to put everyone in the same boat and not look at circumstances of each individual. And telling people they have a loan and then deciding later ...       Full review

And telling people they have a loan and then deciding later that they dont have loan is very cruel. That pre-approval stuff is just plain mean and gets people's hopes up.

      Firstly I really enjoy the great customer service which is always apparent when dealing with Commonwealth Bank whether it is over the phone or in person. Smart access is a good everyday account which I would recommend however I don't understand the necessity that banks always charge monthly fees on accounts when banks make so much money on interest rates. I pay $5 per month which is not alot of money however when you add it up thats $60 per year and I, like most people would not just throw $60 away. That is the only downfall with my Commonwealth account. Another pro is that when you are a student Commonwealth waive the monthly fees for students which is good considering almost all students are struggling financially. I believe the fees on my Smart Access account can been seen in somewhat of a positive light aswell because knowing those fees make me want to strive to save so I may have enough money saved up in my account that I will get to a certain amount and then Commonwealth won't charge me fees. At the end of the day most banks have fees and charges so I am happy to remain with Commonwealth and I do like a challenge, so hopefully one day I will have saved up enough that I won't need to pay monthly fees until then I will continue to leave the branches smiling and cop the monthly fee.

      I have been with Commonwealth Bank since I was a child, but have held savings account with other banks. Though I have had many problems with money going missing out of my accounts, and companies taking money that hadn't been agreed upon, I find the over the phone customer service to be almost useless as they are unable to do anything to help situations. But when entering into a branch the manager fixed my problem in minute, also gave me money until my problem was fixed and the company returned my savings. All round they are a great bank, but as most companies they have a few rough edges.
