This is how the Mozo community has rated St George for bank accounts.
St George
St George is Australia’s fifth largest bank, and has merged with Westpac to create a banking mega force. The merger hasn’t change the St George brand, which has been retained along with the bank’s focus on customer service and community support. St George customers have also benefited from things like being able to use both banks’ ATM networks without paying any extra fees. So if you want a bank that’s good with people and good with money too, check out the St George range of credit cards, bank accounts, savings accounts, home loans and personal loans.

Great basic account, very transparent fees. The staff are all excellent to deal with, I've changed between many banks in the past few years due to customer service, and am happy to stay with St George for the long haul now. The account I have has an awesome feature that automatically categorises the transactions by type and then presents a pie graph each month showing where all my money has been spent. The added benefit of the account I have is a linked savings account, with an ingenious ability to round up transactions to the nearest dollar and put the rounded amount into the savings account, sounds basic, but generates about $30 a month into savings that I don't miss.
I very much look forward to changing all my banking needs to them as the time comes around.

I joined St George after having an account with Commonwealth for 15 years. The difference then was enormous. Commonwealth made me feel like a small number, whereas St George valued me as a customer, no matter how meagre my funds may have been.
The fees can be a pain, and locating an ATM is a struggle at my workplace (I work at the Australian National University), but overall I find it a convenient bank.
The interest rates are competitive if you're starting a new account, but there are, as I am aware, no rewards for long time customers. This is something I'd like to see implemented, as I have done quite a lot to bring more customers to them.

The staff have been friendly, approachable and knowledgable from the moment I went to the branch. The everyday banking account is great as it has small fees and the online service is easy to use.
Other banks should learn that the more space, glass and chrome in the branch equals less personable sevice and a space that echo's.
I prefer St. George as it has the intimacy of a small branch but with large bank backing.
