Just Car are fine unless you need to make a claim. They have taken my money happily for the last few years and now that I need to make a claim (first ever and not a fault)they have given me no help and have yelled down the phone at me after I challenged the 4th story they gave me. I will be cancelling my policy if/when this claim is completed.

Beat every quote I researched. Got both cars insured for price of one everywhere else. Went to make a claim and due to price ($400 each car - both side windows smashed when broken into) call taker gave me their repairer without making a claim and saved my rating. Outstanding service. Very happy.

I have been with RACV for 10 years and I wish I didn't have any reason to report on claims but such is life, and I am happy that they are always incredibly quick with processing claims and organising repairs. My sister's car was also written-off earlier this year and they were generous with the pay-out, however there was nearly an error in processing and nearly paid out a figure lower than initially promised. Overall, their customer service is excellent and you don't have to wait on the phone.

YesChoosing between car insurance products is not easy, especially when you add in new products from some of Australia's smaller car insurers like Virgin Money, Bingle and 1Cover. Getting a quotation is easy but we all know it's not just about the price - it's the features, options and service as well.
With all that choice it can be hard to compare apples with apples; just getting quotes isn't enough.
Our popular products table above provides a welcome shortcut - and you can delve deeper directly from here - but we also have a whole market comparison table to compare car insurance objectively.
Depending on which state you live in there are two main types of car insurance that motorists need to consider: Third party property and comprehensive car insurance. New South Wales and Queensland motorists also have to consider compulsory third party or ‘Greenslip’ insurance when they register their cars.
Third party covers damage to other people and their property but not your own car if you are involved in an accident. Third party is generally cheaper than comprehensive car insurance and may be adequate if your car is not worth much. Fire and theft cover can be added to third party to protect your car against fire damage and theft.
Comprehensive car insurance is the more expensive option for drivers but covers you against accidental damage to other people and their property along with your own car, even if the accident is your fault. Some also offer other benefits such as a courtesy rental car and broken windscreens.
With all the choice that’s now available it’s important to compare not only the price but also the fine print of what you're covered for in your car insurance policy. Cheap car insurance is not always the most appropriate and it’s worth considering all the other additional benefits and features of each policy. Insurers have different excess levels, valuations for your car and importantly will offer cover in different circumstances.
