I was convinced by a teller at my local branch one day to make an appointment to see the manager who could save me a lot of money due to the all the different accounts I had credit cards home loan, savings and others. Made the appoint arrived early and waited at the appointed time someone walked in off the the street and stuck thier head in the managers door and he shuts the door and I am left sitting there. After 15 min I go to the same teller and ask why someone else got in at my appointment time. I am told they had mistaken the person for me. I am male the other person was female and as I don't know her I am sure she doesn't share my surname. I go back to wait as I have changed my work shifts around and then I am asked to come back in a couple of hours. As I am about to leave the manager finishes with the other person says sorry. Then we commence our meeting. He then offers to change all theses various accounts around to this and that to save me money and can do and that for me and then says by changing my credit card from the the current Visa one I am on to a different master card one my interest rate on my outstanding balance for purchase and cash advances from 21% to 13%. Having been traveling overseas recently the balance was up a bit and I though this would be a good way of maintaining my current repayments and getting rid of the outstanding balance quicker. He also convinces me to take out insurance on my home loan repayments. Two nights later on the TV I see the company I have signed up with are under investigation and civil action is being taken against for not honoring claims, luckily I was still in the cooling off period and opted out immediately. I get my first statement for the new card and there is no reduction on the rates on my balance still 21% after waiting on the phone for 20 minutes I speak to him and he advises me the low interest was only for new purchases at the reduced rate and that everything on the old balance moved to the new card was being billed at the old rate. I informed him that was not what he told me and he was adamant that is was, when I continued to argue he said, that basically I must have misunderstood what was said. When I advised him I had replayed the conversation I had taped on my micro recorder of our conversation and that what I was telling him is what he had said he hung up on me. Funny he doesn't want to answer my calls anymore. I now have a credit card at another bank. Before you question the recording it is totally legal to tape record a conversation between two people anywhere anytime as long as one of the people participating in the conversation is aware it is being taped, on this occasion this being me. I do this type of stuff for a living.

The product if fine though the road to get it sorted was a tiresome one. Some staff were great but we had a 5 month delay getting our financial needs met when a staff member processed the wrong application and caused us to wait for a cooling off p... Full review

This should have been a straight forward process but was far from it.

I have used ANZ ever since my move from the UK - I found them extremely helpful prior to my move once I was here I found they had also been honest, when a bank is looking after your money honest for me is a major criteria to have. I never have to wait long either in the bank or when I phone. Good honest reliable people work at ANZ. It is a real people place to contact - I have always found myself understood.

When I first got the card, they offered 0% for the first 6 months on cash transfers and purchases. This was extremely helpful for the begining. The interest rate is reasonable compared to many and is quite low for a card that also provides rewards... Full review

The interest rate is reasonable compared to many and is quite low for a card that also provides rewards. That was another key feature that was beneficial. If you get a credit card and can afford to pay it off, you are not only saving, but also get benefits :) Another little bonus is the card looks awesome too!!

The card I have is their no frills low rate card. It has a low fee of about 12% but has no rewards programs. So it is a good card if you want just a basic credit card for big purchases. Full review

I dislike ANZ because they have poor customer service and do not answer your questions and concerns truthfully. I have a ANZ first credit card and the interest rate is very high. Do not get credit cards from them. Internet banking always has problems with security, especially with online statements. I have now switched banks to NAB and they have excellent customer service and internet banking. They care about their customers. Bank with NAB.
