With a crisp 0% balance transfer rate, 0% intro purchase rate for the first 6 months and a desirable $0 annual fee for the first year, the ANZ Platinum card is an enticing offer for any credit card seeker. Although the ANZ Platinum doesn’t come with rewards points, the credit card makes up for it with travel benefits, complimentary insurances, platinum concierge and other services such as eDine, ANZ wine club and Visa entertainment.
Key features: The 0% balance transfer and intro rate for 6 months is a great offer for anyone hoping to save a bunch on interest. Once the intro rate period ends, the standard purchase rate is 19.24% but there is a generous 55 interest free day period as long as you pay the balance in full each month.
There are also travel benefits with the ANZ Platinum credit card. If you spend over $500 in one transaction on travel related expenses such as airlines, hotels, travel agents and online travel bookings you can get a reduced interest rate of 9.99%. After the purchase has gone through simply call ANZ and organise the discounted rate or take up the installment option. You can choose monthly repayments of instalments over 6, 12 or 18 months at the reduced interest rate of 9.99% p.a.
After the first year there is an annual fee of $87 but you can get this waived if you make at least $20,000 worth of eligible purchases in the previous year. This might seem like a lot to have to spend to save on an annual fee but you can get up to nine additional card holders free on the card to help out with the spending!
The complimentary insurances included with the ANZ Platinum card are truly high end. You'll receive essential overseas travel and medical insurance, car rental cover, 90 days purchase security insurance, extended warranty and interstate flight inconvenience insurance. And the Visa entertainment feature will introduce you to the exciting world of special events (Fashion Week Australia), exclusive merchandise packages and home entertainment products.
Who it's good for: You must earn a minimum of $50,000 and be an Australian citizen to apply for the ANZ Platinum card. It is a great credit card for travellers or entertainment seeks who want access to travel and special entertainment events.
Any catches? The balance transfer and purchase rate offer isn't available to existing ANZ credit card customers.
