Due to my frequent travel, the complimentary travel insurance is a blessing. All you need to do is purchase your fares with the credit card and you're covered. Whilst I was away in Asia, I had some card trouble at an ATM. Citibank have offices all over the world and visiting one was the same as being in your own country. The service and welcoming was A class The rates on purchases is fair and competitive.

My dealings with this bank have been a disaster. They approved my credit card application immediately then halved the credit limit approved. Then they sent a letter saying a balance transfer for the 9 month 0% deal I applied to take advantage of... Full review
My dealings with this bank have been a disaster. They approved my credit card application immediately then halved the credit limit approved. Then they sent a letter saying a balance transfer for the 9 month 0% deal I applied to take advantage of had been organised, but 3 weeks later, still hadn't. Followed up and was advised that only certain partners with specific types of account numbers on a list (that they can't provide for legal reasons) qualify for balance transfer so they can't do a transfer. NONE of this is on their website/application information. Great interest rate on their card but everything else is a shocker.

Some of the lowest rates, useless customer service
I've tried 3 times to set up transfers that didn't go through and they have set up direct debit 2 with no success. If it wasn't for these problems it would be a much better product. Full review

I believe the most important thing to consider when applying for a credit card with Citibank is the low interest rate they charge per month. This is the most affordable card I've had that doesn't charge the earth to have credit. As long as you're diligent at using it which for most people that's hard to do you're able to keep up with the monthly payments that for me have been affordable too so I would definitely recommend a Citibank low rate Platinum Credit Card compared to the more prominent banks & Credit Card lenders.
