Different to most cards - AMEX & mastercard combo
It's not the best product in the market and the services is ok. However the credit card is accepted widely and it's great to have not only a mastercard but also an Amercian Express in one account where you can earn awards by using either cards. Full review

I like that I have not only the option to use my VISA card linked to this account, but that I can also choose to use my AMEX that is linked to this account also, and that using my AMEX allows me to accumulate more points - so greater value for mon... Full review
I like that I have not only the option to use my VISA card linked to this account, but that I can also choose to use my AMEX that is linked to this account also, and that using my AMEX allows me to accumulate more points - so greater value for money. What I don't like is the transaction fee associated with international transactions. I believe that some of my friends dont have this fee with their respective banks.

My money is important to me. I don't mind using it to pay for good trustworthy services and that is what I get with my Commonwealth bank credit card. At times when people have been unscrupulous and removed money from my account without proper authorization. I have reported this to the bank and they have investigated the claim and found in my favour and pursued the money after they have fully refunded my account. There was no if and no buts. I appreciated that.

The Awards system is great in itself but, over the years they have down graded the value of the points system. You need more points to get the awards you want. At one stage I was seriously going to quit the programe as the fee for having a card, fee for using the Awards programe, additional card holders fee were cancelling out the benefit. And now so many places that take credit card are putting an extra charge of 1%-2.5% on all your purchases, im inclined to eftpos transactions instead. The bottom line is put every thing on credit and spend up big!

I've had good experiences with CBA, they have even reimbursed the charges when asked after I made a late payment. The rewards program is in line with the best available. I have found them to be approachable and helpful. I dont go to the branch very often as I prefer to netbank but when I have the customer service experience has been good. I have recently gone paperless with statements and have set up automated payment, I am very pleased with this. I get notified by email to view my statement and the bank takes care of it.

Great that you earn rewards. However its disappointing that my annual credit card fee usually eats up half of the points. Given I spend almost my entire income through my card, its not exactly a generous return for loyalty. I've noticed lag of a couple of days in processing transactions over the past year or so. On one occasion this caused me to overpay my account. When I transferred the EXCESS back out, I was charged cash advance fees. Not happy!

I redeem the cash awards all the time which works great for me! I like the fact you don't have to wait until you've got a certain number if points to redeem cash - you can do it for $1 if you want to! Netbank very easy to use. I've also a couple of cases over the years where I have had people fraudulantly use my card number and Commonwealth have fixed this up and put. The money was back within a couple of days.
