Looking for a premium credit card that won’t break the bank? The offering from Heritage Bank may be the one for you. This card has all the perks of other rewards cards, without the hefty price tag. But it isn’t all roses - in return for the low cost of this premium option, you’ll sacrifice some of that rewards earning power with a lower points return for your spending.

First things first, if you’re opting for the low rate gold card, you don’t get any interest free days. Which is a shame, because making the most of the interest free period on your credit card is one of the best ways to keep your balance under control.
For all the other cards you’ll get a cruisy period of up to 55 days to pay for your purchases before being charged interest.
Not that many! Although most of the credit cards on offer from Heritage Bank come with an annual fee, you can cancel it out by hitting minimum spend limits and use your card entirely free of annual fees. You won’t be so lucky with others, like cash advance or foreign exchange fees, although the good news is they’re pretty reasonable anyway.
Your monthly credit card statement will show you the minimum amount you need to pay off your bill - for Heritage Bank credit cards, it will be either $30 or 3% of your balance, whichever is highest. But keep in mind that this is just the bare minimum of what you should pay - we highly recommend you pay off as much as you can from your credit card statement as soon as you can. That way, you can avoid paying interest or late payment fees and stay on top of your credit card balance.
If you’re looking to manage your credit card balance with a balance transfer offer, you’ll want to opt for either the gold or platinum credit card offering from Heritage Bank. You’ll get a 0% interest period in which to pay off the balance, making it that much easier to cut down on debt.
Keep in mind that any balance you haven’t paid off by the end of that period will then be charged interest at the cash advance rate. The good news is that unlike a lot of credit cards, that rate is not too steep on a Heritage Bank credit card. Even so, if you can avoid paying interest, why would you?

Of course! Credit cards from Heritage Bank work on the VISA network, which means you can use payWave for all your little transactions. Read more about contactless payment here.
Another good thing about your Heritage Bank credit card working on the VISA network? You can use it wherever VISA is accepted, which these days, is pretty much worldwide.
Looking for some freebies? Check out a Heritage Bank classic or platinum credit card for all your rewards needs. Although, if you’re a fan of the usual credit card reward programs, a Heritage Bank credit card ma not be for you, as they have their own unique rewards program. With these cards, you’ll earn Heritage Credits for every $1,000 you spend per month. Platinum credit card holders will earn 3 credits per $1,000, while classic cardholders will earn 1 credit.
Keep in mind that when redeeming, you have to use up 5 credits at once, and your credits will expire after 3 years. You can redeem credits for a range of products from the Heritage Bank store, or gift cards from retailers like Myer, Target, David Jones and JB Hifi.
If you are the victim of credit card fraud, then you're protected by Heritage Bank from unauthorised transactions to a certain extent. If your credit card is used without your knowledge or permission, you can only be charged the least amount out of:
The actual amount lost
The balance of your account, including any pre-arranged credit
$150
But there are a few things you can do to make using your credit card safer. Try these few simple tips to help limit the risk of credit card fraud:
Be wary when giving out credit card details online - look for secure or well-known websites.
Memorise your PIN and don’t write it down!
Be observant when you use your card - don’t let cashiers take it out of your sight, and when using an ATM, be aware of your surroundings.
Review your statement regularly for unusual activity.

The people at the branch that I deal with are very helpful, had a problem with some unscrupulous person using our credit card facilities, the bank did everything it could to resolve the matter in as quickly as possible, without to much trauma to us.

Unauthorized money was taken out from my credit card which was just under $3000. I filed a dispute and they told me not to pay the amount and that they will get it sorted. A month later they called me to tell me they've taken out $100 for overdue fees but they could not call me to tell me that they squashed the case after a week because they threw it in the too hard basket. Now they are asking me to pay the almost $3000 amount. I will be making a formal complaint to the AFCA and hopefully speaking to solicitors this Tuesday. There is no point in having a credit card because your money is not safe with the,. I've been a loyal client for over 20 years and this not the first time they have screwed me. But enough is enough and I'll be taking me money elsewhere. Absolutely disgusted!
