If you are looking to land yourself a new credit card with great rates and awesome rewards look no further than the Virgin Flyer Credit Card. With its current 1.9% interest rate for balance transfers for the first 12 months and 2 for 1 flight offer, you'll find yourself saving money and living the jetsetter lifestyle.
Key features: The Virgin Flyer visa credit card comes with an annual fee of $50 for the first year (then $99). While the 1.9% balance transfer offer is a great way to save on repayments now, be sure to pay off your balance by the end of the intro period. This credit card has a standard interest rate of 20.99% for purchases and cash advances so it's not a card to accumulate debt on. The Virgin Flyer card has a 44 day interest free period. Additional credit cards come at the cost of $39.
The reward program is linked to Virgin’s Velocity Rewards program. Virgin Flyer Cardholders earn 1 Velocity point for every dollar they spend (up to $1500) and then 1 point for every $2 they spend. Virgin Flyer cardholders also get access to a concierge service, exclusive Virgin family offers and free transit accident insurance.
One of the hottest features of the Virgin Flyer credit card is the complimentary flight seat offer. If you purchase a Virgin Australia flight using your Virgin Flyer credit card, you will receive a free second flight seat for a friend (up to four times a year). So if you don't like to travel alone, this is a pretty awesome benefit!
Who it's good for: The Virgin Flyer credit card is perfect for anyone who is prone to enjoy a bit of out-of-state retail therapy and is disciplined about paying off their credit card balance each month. Note that to be eligible for the credit card you have to earn a minimum of $35,000.
Any catches? The rewards earning rate drops after you spend $1500 each month to 1 point for every $2 spent so it could take a while rack up a decent number of rewards points for things like overseas travel and accommodation. And keep within your limits - there is a $40 fee if you accidentally go over your credit limit.

I signed up for a Virgin Money credit card after positive experiences with Virgin Mobile and Virgin airlines. It turns out that they have nothing in common apart from the name and rewards scheme. Their call centre is miles away and extremely hard to understand. Their website is shocking, basically non-functional. The only decent part about this deal is the four free flights per year. That is all.
