    Westpac Singapore Airlines Platinum Review

    Review published: 20 February 2012

    What's hot:

    • 0.99% balance transfer offer
    • 10,000 bonus miles after first purchase
    • Top International flight rewards

    What's not:

    • Reward points expire after 36 months

    Mozo snapshot:

The Westpac Singapore Airlines Platinum credit card is one of the top rewards credit cards for international flight rewards according to Mozo’s award winning Rewards Revealer tool. If you are frequent Singapore Airlines traveller then this is a credit card worthy of your attention. It comes with a American Express and a Visa credit card. You get more bang for your buck with the AMEX card (1.5 Singapore Airline KrisFlyer Miles per $1 spent), while the Visa credit card only has 0.5 KrisFlyer Miles.

Key features: The Westpac Singapore Airlines Platinum credit card has an interest free period of 45 days and a standard purchase rate of 19.49%. If you are looking to consolidate your credit card debt onto the one credit card the 0.99% balance transfer rate for the first 6 months will help you save. At $250, the annual credit card fee is at the high end but if you make more than one overseas trip per year, the free travel accident and purchase protection insurance more than makes up for this cost.

The Westpac Singapore Airlines Platinum credit card has no cap on the number of points you can earn in a year - perfect for the frequent traveller. And you'll get a massive 10,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles from when your credit card is first used (almost enough points for a Syd-Melb flight). The reward points are automatically credited to the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer program and all rewards are redeemed via KrisFlyer.

Who it's good for: The Westpac Singapore Airlines Platinum credit card is perfect for the savvy adventurer that enjoys travelling within Singapore Airline's network.

Any catches? The 0.99% balance transfer rate means you can easily transfer from an existing credit card balance and avoid high interest repayments. The catch? It's only for the first 6 months and then any unpaid balance will revert to a high cash advance rate of 20.74%.

Keep an eye on those rewards points. Even though there is no cap on the number of points you can earn with the Westpac Singapre Airlines Platinum card, points expire within 36 months so you'll have to plan that holiday vacation quick smart!
