Woolworths Everyday Money Credit Card Review

Review updated: 10 October 2014
Review published: 9 August 2012

What's hot:

  • 10,000 bonus points
  • 0% balance transfer rate for 9 months

What's not:

  • $35 late payment fee

Mozo snapshot:

The Woolworths Everyday Money Credit Card is a great credit card if you're a regular shopper at Woolworths and Woolies owned outlets like Big W, Dan Murphy's, Caltex, BWS, and Dick Smiths. Apply before 31 January 2015 and you'll get 10,000 bonus points (as long as you make a purchase before 31 March 2015). Rewards points are converted into shopping gift cards which help cut down the cost of your groceries.

Key features:

The Woolworths Everyday Money credit card has a small $49 annual fee. If you're good at paying back your debt on time the Woolworths Everyday Money Credit Card has a 55 day interest free period. Like all credit cards you don't want to fall behind on your payments or you'll be hit with a $35 late fee.

Earning rewards with The Woolworths Everyday Money Credit Card is simple:
     - You earn 3 points for every dollar spent on Woolworths branded 'Select' products.
     - 2 points for every $1 spent in Woolworths and a number of other Woolworths owned outlets such as Dan Murphy's, Big W, Dick Smith, Thomas Dux and Woolworths liquor
     - 1 point for every $1 spent elsewhere

Every 4 months the points are converted into a Woolworths Everyday Money Shopping Card and you'll need around 4000 points to receive $20. Working just like a gift card, the Shopping Card will help knock down your grocery bill but don't hold on to them for too long. The Woolworths Everyday Money Shopping Card will expire 3 months after it's issued.

Who it's good for:

Anyone looking to save on interest of their credit card but ultimately best for loyal 'Fresh Food' people.

Any catches?

The Woolworths Everyday Money Card is unashamedly biased. Points can only be redeemed at Woolworths and Woolworths partners. If these rewards don't work for you and you prefer flight rewards from your credit card maybe consider the Woolworths Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card.

We took this card because of the rewards program (frequent flyers). This is the only reason we keep it! The interest on purchases are ridiculously high, customer service is average, the only way to pay card is internet or instore. Instore there is a $2000 limit on deposits to card also. The telephone customer service is only open business hours-what happens if you lose your card at 1am on a sunday? No 24 hour service. To set up the card was difficult and fraught with many errors on Woolworths' part.

Woolworths has outdone themselves with their range of credit cards. They are simple to use with PayPass but also easy to put money onto from most Woolworths stores. I got one of these cards to go overseas and to purchase online. Apply in store and they are an easy and convenient option. My only hesitation is their ugly and un-intuitive website.

The Woolworths credit card has a fantastic rewards program. No extra fees or charges, just great bonus offers throughout the year. I just use my card and collect points for every dollar I spend and every 3 months I receive a gift card in the mail - I don't even have to remember to redeem my points, what a great surprise each time and great value. Thanks Woolies.

About Woolworths

Woolworths is Australia's biggest retail group. In 2008, Woolworths launched the Everyday Money Credit Card to reward customers who shop in Woolworths group stores. Woolworths chief executive Michael Luscombe says the card was designed to meet customer demand for “simple, easily achievable and useful rewards”. The Woolworths Everyday Money MasterCard offers 2 points for every dollar spent on purchases in stores operated by the Woolworths group and 1 point for every dollar spent on other purchases. Cardholders can also earn 3 points for every dollar spent on Woolworths Select brand purchases.
