I have banked with this company for over 20 years never defaulted on any credit card payment or home loan payment - it took forever, got forgotten about, questioned on everything, it was the longest every application in the world - nearly took 12 months and it was only an extension for home improvements. Made it difficult for me financially - still recovering.

ANZ seem to have forgotten the people!
Whilst the local team is fantastic, anything other than daily banking needs are referred to Melbourne. I don't even know the manager taking care of my loans anymore! I have asked for my repayments to be direct debited 3 times, and have had no luck... Full review

I have asked for my repayments to be direct debited 3 times, and have had no luck in getting anyone to rectify the problem, so I have been manually processing my loan repayments. :(

When I went to obtain my homeloan ANZ were polite and friendly and further they didn't make me jump through hoops to get it. Their customer service was so much better than my last provider that even when the bank puts up interest rates or takes longer to pass on the reserve bank cuts I don't feel aggrieved. Some things no amount of savings on a loan can buy are feeling as though people care about you as an individual.

Also with ANZ now doing their own thing in regards to interest rates, considering go else where. Just such an effort to arrange it all and I think this is what they rely on. But at least the big boss is getting a good salary!

Its not like the ANZ are broke; they continually have huge mind blowing profits. They can afford to be a bit more generous to their customers. Even a small percentage increase puts a huge strain on normal earning families. They seem to delight in... Full review

THe only reason I am with the ANZ is the fact that they have a wide ATM network and also because I can get the savings account attached to the home-loan to get interest off-set. I do not like the fees - was promised at the start that the fees were waived for the Breakfree Package and then when I needed something changed, they wanted to charge me the annual fee. Once my LVR is below 80%, I will be migrating to a credit union as they DO NOT CHARGE FEES!!! 'YAY!!! Can't wait for the day to come.

I like this product as the process is so easy with them, my accounts are combined and easy to manage. I found nab significantly cheaper 2 years ago and took that to anz to see if they would match it. They did not match it but they did help me out a little. Wish the cost of the break free package wasn't so high...and they would calm down with raising interest rates!

ANZ have excellent customer service, never had a problem with that side of things. Bad points: one annual fee of about $400 every June/July. It hurts. The fact that ANZ have just raised their rates despite the RBA holding!

The breakfree package really worked for us with having the flexibility of the off-set account. Our savings don't earn interest but if we need to access them they aren't locked away. The platinum credit cards are also a positive feature of the package. The only problem we have had with this home loan is that the communication within the bank has been a bit sloppy. The details we specified on the contract weren't put in place and it took a long time to get them rectified.

Good locations and friendly helpul staff.
I find the product and the overall service of this bank very helpful. The locations of ATMs and branches are easy to find but as with other instutions you have to watch the charges. The branch staff have explained to us how to minimise this. Full review

The product in itself is probably ok, our problem has been and currently is until we are able to change banks, is the appalling lack of customer service and communication, not only between us and the bank, but within different departments within the bank, it is virtually non existant. We have made arrangements with one department which is not passed on to any other department and we are constantly in the position of having to go over and over again the same thing with many different people, either because the message has not been passed on, or the person calling us has not bothered to read the notes. On numerous occasions, we have asked the caller to read the notes while on the phone to us and then have received a half hearted apology and usually been told that it was "our fault" that the message had not been passed on correctly.
