I used a mobile lender which was terrific because you get that one on one without any distractions or in branch interruptions so you can focus on what you need to know. Wealth package good. Advantages are if you want to use them for insurance etc.... Full review

Advantages are if you want to use them for insurance etc. Beware of account fees if you don't want joint savings accounts. It's in the small print apparently but they don't tell you about it.

The home loans manager was terrible. I couldn't rely on him to help me with my first home owners grant. In the end it was easier to do the application myself then to wait for them. Full review

We could save some money on interest by changing to another but the complexity of working out how much another bank would charge for transaction fees and monthly loan fees (which we don't pay with CBA) keeps us as a continuing customer. Full review

The product provides all the features we need and we have a very good relationship manager who looks after all our banking needs in a professional and efficient manner. Any problems, even if rates, we have been able to renegotiate to both our satisfaction. This notion of just moving banks does not develop a business relationship. There is a "cost of change" and in my view, I find that if you are unhappy with your financial provider, it is best to try and resolve it with them. After all, they realise it costs them more money to get a new customer than try to keep the existing customer happy.

People should shop around but unless they have an understanding of how home loans work and the method of keeping interest charges to a minimum, they will be lost no matter where they go. The client should compare apples with apples and not be afraid to ask questions. CBA are a confident bank with competent staff. Their advice and assistance was reliable and honest, even when the information was occasionally to their disadvantage. What impressed me most is that they did not try and slate their competitors. I cannot say the same for most other lenders that I approached. The CBA home loan product line is most favourable when repayments can be made as frequently as possible (more than once per month) to keep the bank interest charges (calculated daily) to a minimum.

Being on a Wealth Package is an advantage as you save on your interest rate, no annual credit card fee, and no account fees for $375 a year. Internet access is great to change repayments and check balances. The only downfall is when interest rates change, your minimum repayment amount is not changed unless requested. Being a big bank, I'm confident my loan is very safe, and I usually hear how my bank is going in the news.

I don't understand why you need a deposit for a home loan if you are already paying rent at the same financial cost of a mortgage, surely that is enough proof you can afford to pay a home loan per month. banks need to make is easier for people to get home loans based on rental payments or there will be an entire generation who will never own their own home. rates are fixed in collusion with the other banks, fees are ridiculous and are the purely their to fill the pockets of the executives and their mates. I will never use CBA again, constantly ripped me off.

The home loan wealth package gives us a reduced interest rate, no annual fee on credit card and allows us to make additional payments and withdrawals without fees. This in turn saves us $$ on interest. All good. Full review

I switched from CBA once before due to their arrogance but wanted to give them a second chance on our investment property and have been let down again. When I contacted them recently to enquire about why I was on a higher rate than others and I was basically told too bad and not to bother lodging an enquiry. He said he had worked in that department previously and they wouldn't do anything about it. I will be switching.

I think that the Commonwealth Bank representative was knowledgeable about the banks product. She came to see us to discuss the possibility of a second loan at our home which was fantastic for us as we both work full-time. We didn't know about the Wealth package but once she explained it we were sold. After we had arranged pre-approval of our home loan, it was up to us to find a house! The Commonwealth Bank representative checked in with us via email every now and then to see how we were going with the house hunt which was lovely. It took us approximately one year to find the right house for us. Once we did purchase, we chose a one month settlement and this was handled extremely well by the bank, despite the short timeline! Settlement day was completed without a hitch... now all we have to do is pay off the loan!!

Yes*The Comparison Rate combines the lender's interest rate, fees and charges into a single rate to show the true cost of a home loan, based on the loan amount and loan term you entered.
