For me this product is very competitive with interest rates and extremely convenient. Anyone who uses the Westpac Equity Access or any type of account that lets you redraw on your equity ( any $ figure paid off the actual loan amount)should be very aware of what they spend or can spend each month. To utilise these types of accounts it is best to use a credit card for purchases during the month with any wages or other income going directly into the Equity loan. When the credit card is due paying off the full balance. It defeats the purpose to pay interest on your credit card as well as your loan and can get the consumer into additional debt.

We found the bank did not voluntarily provide the best value information. Usually this comes from an independent source. It is difficult to get anyone from the bank to explain the pros and cons of their package. In hindsight, we would have shopped... Full review
We found the bank did not voluntarily provide the best value information. Usually this comes from an independent source. It is difficult to get anyone from the bank to explain the pros and cons of their package. In hindsight, we would have shopped around before signing up as we believe not the market is very competitive.

I have trouble having my repayments automatically transferred from my savings account to the home loan account each payday and I know that the money is going to be there to service the loan. As I always transfer more than is necessary I have a reserve to fall back on in an emergency.

We have had 3 properties, and have used Westpac home loans each time. The staff are easily accessible, and are willing to go the 'extra mile'. For example - we had to clean out my uncle's house once he had died, and had piles of dirty old coins. The girls in the bank, the manager and ourselves spent an age sorting and bagging them. Nothing is too hard, or that is how they make it seem. We purchased our first house 30 years ago, with a different bank. Within one year we had changed to a Westpac home loan, and never looked back. Thank you Westpac.
