Customer service is ok, however, bad reputation
Westpac offer me the 1.05% variable interest rate discount, which sounds no bad, however, the interest rate is still higher than some of other main banks after discount, so I wouldn't recommend them to my friends. Full review

Customer service was out of this world
The bank manager personally assisted us when we were looking to build and did everything in her power to help us. We weren't able to get the loan we wanted but she was able to find a way to help us with other options. Full review

Flexible product, but highest rate in the market.

The product is flexible but has the highest interest rate of all the banks. You can easily obtain all the same features with another bank at a lower interest rate, so I could not possibly recommend this product. When calling Westpac to discuss the loan, they justify having the highest interest rates in the market by saying they have the largest branch network in Australia. (The guy I spoke to must have repeated that line 4 or 5 times during our conversation). In today's world were you can do all your banking online, this is a stupid way to justify it. As a result, they were not interested in matching any of the smaller lenders and in my case they would not even match the larger lenders lower rates as it would take me three years to recover my exit fees. It seems being with Westpac for nearly 20 years and having many products with them. (Home loan, Credit Card, Super, life insurance, etc) means nothing. Time to change.

Westpac is like any of the banks, you NEED to shop around for the best deal. Westpac does offer competative rates so they are definately worth a look. Their customer service is good & branches & ATM's are readily available. Full review

Yes*The Comparison Rate combines the lender's interest rate, fees and charges into a single rate to show the true cost of a home loan, based on the loan amount and loan term you entered. Fixed rate loans assume a 3 year fixed term. Different amounts and terms will result in different comparison rates. Full comparison rate schedules are available from lenders.
