Have considered changing home loan providers, but prefer to stay the same so that they will be more likely to help us if financial difficulties arise. I don't think it could be described as 'better the devil you know' but hoping that customer loyalty has value

The Westpac Home Loan package was convenient to use and was great having it linked to my savings account and VISA card. However, I found that their rates were not as competitive as others, so I ended up changing to RAMS for a better rate. I've decided to keep my savings and VISA accounts with them though as ATMs are found nearly everywhere, especially as I can use Bank SA and St George ones for free too.

I have been with Westpac since the Bank of New South Wales days and they have always looked after my needs. They may not have the cheapest rates (at the moment) however their customer service is second to none. In a time of need which was quite dramatic, they were there to help me all the way. Have no plans to move anywhere.

Home loan and other product interest rates are not competitive in the market. The company has several subsidiaries and one of them was BT. They seem to be nice to customers but actually they are terrible in handling and managing their staff. I was an ex-staff of BT and was terminated after 19 years of service because of my re-triggered depression and anxiety, both were acquired during my employment in BT. I was terminated the same time as the 188 redundant Westpac employees in January 2012. The difference was they all received redundancy pay and they are still having issues with the way they were sacked. With my case I was terminated for a dismissal reason with no redundancy pay. Now I have been doing job applications but because of the reason of my employment termination, I can't get any job! Now I am still suffering from my mental disabilities and my husband lost his job too because of my medical condition. Now we are both unemployed and my medical condition is getting worst as we are having massive financial issues i.e. cannot service all my debts i.e. home loan, credit cards, personal loan and also cannot service all my bills. Where is the human rights/work rights, equal opportunity here? I thought bullying, harassment and discriminations are not permitted in a work force? What happened to the Fair Work Australia? I just want to be heard out as I think my termination was unfair and I do not want anybody to experience what I have been through and it is not only the victim who is affected and suffering but it affects the whole family, financials, emotional, physical distress to the family. I hope that someone with a good heart will understand my concerns and with how I feel. If these issues will not be resolved as soon as possible, these problems will create a massive cost to the Australian Government and to the national budget as mental disability is being supported by the government and government initiated projects will be useless if employers are not strictly following the policies, rules and procedures set by Australian Human Rights Commission and Fair Work Australia in managing employees suffering with depression and anxiety.

This product has a comparable rate to others but large annual package fee. It has redraw option which is great even if you have to hound the bank to actually activate it even though it is there at sign up!! We sourced this as the best option for us going through a broker and it has been comparable to others but my experiences with this bank have demonstrated to me that they are more interested in bleeding $$ out of me through interest and fees than they are about seeing me own my own home. At sign up they could not do enough for us and we have home & contents & normal banking account with them but it has been my experience that the person handling the account is often dismissive and finds my queries annoying. Generally though branch & teller staff are excellent and order new cards, changing pin numbers and transactions have been great!

This product is fantastic. We were struggling with our previous bank. We were paying interest only. When we refinanced we paid off all our debts, we are paying principal and interest and paying less then we were before. Our refineancing experience was not stressful at all. In a nutshell it was a breeze. Branch staff are polite and efficient. Overall we are extremely happy.

Overall it is probably not a bad product but it is the lack of customer service which really lets it down. You become a customer number to them and any changes take about two tree's worth of paper to change anything. Full review

Could be more competitive.
