Your home is possibly your most valuable possession, so it makes sense to want to insure it with quality protection and the Allianz Home and Contents Insurance Policy does just that. This policy will cover your home and its contents against major disasters and in those moments where things just go wrong. To keep things affordable there's an online sign-up discount, a no claims bonus and your choice of excess.
The Allianz Home and Contents Insurance Policy can help give your home the protection it needs during life’s unexpected moments. Your home and its contents will be covered against a range of events, including fires, storms and theft as well as veterinary expenses (up to $500), lock replacement (up to $1,000) and legal liability (up to $20 million). You can also add flood cover, accidental damage cover and insurance for potable contents onto your policy as an optional extra (just remember this comes with an increase to your premium).
From your credit card to jewellery, the Allianz Home and Contents Insurance Policy has your back when it comes to your homes’ contents. With this policy, items such as jewellery, antiques, trade tools and cameras are all covered – just be sure to read through your PDS to find out exactly how much you’ll be insured for.
Don’t forget, there are also a number of discounts available with this policy, including a 10% discount on your first yearly premium for applying online and a no claims discount up to 30%.
One thing you’ll need to keep in mind is that there is no cover for boats, trailers and other vehicles on your property, lawns, pebbled paths or building under construction. And if you’re planning to move house anytime soon, there won’t be cover for your contents while you're in transit moving. You can take out the specific moving house cover, but that only covers items when they're inside your new or old home.
The Allianz Home and Contents Insurance could be a great pick for homeowners who want a comprehensive home and contents insurance policy with a generous no claims discount of 30%.
As there is no underinsurance cover with this policy, if you ever need to make a claim and are underinsured, you would need to fork out to cover the rest of the cost.

I'm not really sure about my home & contents insurance, as I've never had to make a claim.. (touch wood) I'm simply rating them on name, and reputation alone.. They're surely not the worst insurer out there, so I'm told. However, I rarely hear from them, (if at all) in regards to customer products, updates or general business.

This insurance company is a no go. They cancelled our home and contents insurance after a year because we have 7 sheep and 7 chickens. They says it because we more than 6 livestock. ?????? We are on 5 acres. What a bunch of monkeys.

Consumer beware. Allianz can cancel your home and contents insurance based on ‘intent’ to rent. We recently decided to rent our home for 4 months when travelling around Australia and contacted Allianz to enquire about landlords insurance. As we understood reluctance and inability for insurance companies to provide cover for Airbnb and/or short term holiday rental we emphasised this was our home and had engaged a real estate company to manage the rental of our home. By the end of the phone call which initially was simply to ask if they could provide landlord insurance under these circumstances, Allianz decided that because it was indeed listed online and they don’t provide landlord insurance for under 12 months, they would not only be unable to provide landlord insurance BUT they would also be cancelling our current home and contents insurance. In response to a formal complaint lodged we were reminded by Allianz that they could cancel our insurance (notwithstanding we had been loyal customers for 30+years and had obtained landlord insurance with them previously) by simply advertising it for rent! They did not require a lease agreement to cancel and we were told if we changed our mind about renting it or were still residing in our home after their arbitrary cancellation date we could contact them and request a continuation of our policy. Needless to say we cancelled our policy with Allianz immediately and have obtained insurance through a more flexible (and cheaper) company

We've found Allianz to be reliable and efficient. For the first time, I've had to make a claim for home & contents insurance. It was a straightforward process and the Allianz team were able to provide helpful info throughout. We were satisfied with the experience. They also seem to be competitively priced compared to other providers.

Would not recommend or re-insure as they are not to be trusted to honour their policy. Not the cheapest so you would expect reasonable service. Making a claim for water damage (burst pipe in internal wall) was easy. Then they went to the expense of flying their "tame" assessor 800 km. to assess the damage and who politely refused the claim even though the policy clearly states that the event is "covered". They claimed that a split solder joint in an internal wall is a "maintenance issue".
