Fantastic one on one service
Westpac made our move from N.Z. So easy. They set up our account before we lieft the country so that all we had to do was some in and pick up our cards. Straight away, we asked for a loan so that we could buy cars and bits and pieces to set oursel... Full review

Straight away, we asked for a loan so that we could buy cars and bits and pieces to set ourselves up. They have been really helpful with everything that we needed. I would recommend them to anyone.

It's not very flexible, but it does allow for extra payments that you can't withdraw. So you can pay it off quicker without the chance to redraw. Full review

Customer service is good, products are expensive..
The interest on this bank's personal loans are excessively high, the repayments in the loan are lower then the interest of the loan for the whole period of the loan. In fact you would pay them nearly twice the amount that you borrowed which I feel... Full review

Shocking customer service.
I had spoken with a customer representative regarding my personal loan and my situation regarding my change in circumstances (separation and illness). I was given the option of "debt settlement" and was given a figure of $16,000 (my loan was at $2... Full review
I had spoken with a customer representative regarding my personal loan and my situation regarding my change in circumstances (separation and illness). I was given the option of "debt settlement" and was given a figure of $16,000 (my loan was at $24,000 at the time). I was happy with the suggestion and went to another bank to see if I could get the loan to payout Westpac. I was told that the most I could borrow was $9,000 as they would have to consider my current debt at $24k. I therefore, tried to pay as much of the personal loan in a 3 week period to get it down by using my rent and childcare fees to put towards the loan. I then called asking what the total would now be for debt settlement, hoping that the figure would be closer to $10k. I was told that the option of debt settlement was no longer available to me as I had made some payments. I was devastated as I was now behind in my rent and childcare fees and still had the entire loan to payoff. As a consequence of this, I was not able to pay the full due amount each month, but was making every effort each week with any remaining money I had. I received a phone call from customer service asking when they could expect the full balance due. When I asked if I could possibly consolidate my debt, I was told no and perhaps it was best I take my banking elsewhere. On top of all this, I had lost my job due to bully & harassment. It took me just over 2 months to find a new job. As I had insurance with my personal loan, I asked if I could use this option. I was told no, as I didn't have enough "written" proof. The fact that my psychologist wrote a report and the few emails I did have were not enough was disappointing. Overall, I have gotten nowhere with Westpac and will look at switching banks as soon as I can.

Westpac personal loan did wonders for me. I wanted to buy a few nice things (home entertainment centre, some other household items), and Westpac did it almost hassle free. Pro's and Con's: They gave me the money straight away, I had many options of paying back, their customer service was excellent. But just a few minor con's were I had a bit of trouble with the online banking, I think it could be a little easier to navigate and such. My overall experience was great.
