  We had 2/3rds of our deposit for a house but they wouldn't loan us the $250k we needed to buy our house. my husband and family have done all their personal and business banking with them for as long as they've been banking (and so have i) so we were extremely disappointed that they couldn't help us. Be aware they loan on your earning capacity at the time not on your deposit amount like ANZ who gave us the loan instead - and we're very happy and they were pleasant to deal with.

  BankSA have home loans through Homestart finance and their interest rates always get adjusted along with the other banks. They are for low income earners and one never pays a mortgage of more than a third of their income.       Full review

  The customer service I recevied at a paticular branch was disgusting and they are very slow to pass on the interest rate drops. I'm sure if I was very slow and making my payments there would be problems! I am currently in the process of changing my loan provider and I am sure I won't hear anything from Bank SA about why I am leaving or how to keep me. Banks needs to realise they should be proactive, not reactive!!!! In summary, the best thing about this mortgage that I took out with Bank SA is the house that I bought with it!

  the quickest way I can convey to a person how much I like my bank is how little the bank has screwed me over. When we got into Financial trouble they worked through it with us. Excellent CUSTOMER service.       Full review

  We had our home loan with them on a fixed rate for 3 years, when the 3 years was up we wanted to change to variable rate. They shut down our account and had to reopen it, which in turn made up have to pay opening fees all over again. The branch ma...       Full review 

  We had our home loan with them on a fixed rate for 3 years, when the 3 years was up we wanted to change to variable rate. They shut down our account and had to reopen it, which in turn made up have to pay opening fees all over again. The branch manager did NOTHING to help us and they wouldn't explain anything and seemed very annoyed when we asked questions. We have never had a phone call/email to ask us about how we are going and whether we want to change anything. I feel we are just a number with this company.   Setting up a home loan was very easy with Bank SA. The staff understood our needs, came up with good options as to best handle the home loan, and they allowed us to borrow the maximum for the loan. We also set up a redraw facility on their suggestion and that was a bonus, we would not have thought of it on our own. There was also flexibility for repayments as long as we informed the bank that we needed extra time. It was great dealing with them, and we have paid off the loan.
