Citibank's cheque account can be linked directly to a savings account and money can be transferred, on line, between the two accounts, with the transfer occurring almost immediately - very useful. The only problem I can think of in relation to this product is the two to three day delay before cheques or deposits appear on the on-line statement.

I have been with this bank for aeons--35 yrs. They are now touting a fee free account for newcomers, but I still pay $5 a month just for the priviledge of placing my money in their bank. They do not supply personal service & their mail service is very arrogant & not consumer friendly at all. I have been charged exorbitant amounts for bouncing cheque as it was a fraud cheque. Citibank refused to acknowledge or help in tracing the perpertrator. Your problem as they put it.

Although the number of Citibank outlets is low, whenever I call them on the phone my call is answered promptly and my questions answered and potential problems dealt with swiftly. And Citibanks ATMs are scarce too but that isnt a real problem given that we can use any of the many Wespac ATM''s and not attract a $2 usage fee.

I was with another bank for a number of years, when I was planning a trip overseas I wanted to be able to transfer money from home to the UK, Citibank seemed to be the only bank that could transfer between international Citibank accounts, instantly and with no fees. The account also had no bank fees and provides me with Visa Debit access to my money. They don't have branches, but I do everything over the Internet, or you can visit a post office or NAB branch.

Only 3 walk in branches in Melbourne. Even when put on notice re withdraws there are issues either on line or in the actual bank. It is as thou people do not enter their premises. The staff are off shore and therefore, either do not understand what is said to them or vicar verse, most of the time. We have been with this bank for a long time and have seen how it has changed over the years. So it is time to leave....

Great interest rate for higher interest account if you're a new customer. Once you're a customer you might have to bring in new funds in order to maintain your benefits. Customer service on the phone is outsourced overseas, so sometimes can be frustrating to convey your needs. Branches only available in big cities. There are overseas branches, card holders can get discounts and benefits at various places.

Pros: - no monthly fees, online banking, linked savings accounts (there is a bit of interest on them, they are available) Cons: - deposit only in NAB or post office, take money out (without charge) from Westpac ATMs. It becomes confusing sometimes. There are fees for overdraw. Client service is not brilliant but sending letters helps to solve the issues.

They are very professional, and offer a good product to businesses. The only strange thing is that they will only allow one debit card attached to a company bank account, even though there are two authorised signatories. When we queried this, we were told it was company policy, and no other explanation.
