We have an interest only loan with Citibank and are paying 8.75% interest. We have tried to negotiate a cheaper rate with them but they have made it clear that they won't budge. An interest only loan is a positive for anyone who can't afford a regular loan however, you will never pay the house off. With this loan you become trapped, like us, and can't get out of it.

Citibank has no physical branches outside the Melbourne CBD. Their customer service is very difficult to find and in our experience once you have the right department the wait is always longer than 7 minutes and often more than 10. However, Citibank has taught us a lot. We are about to change banks and will be looking very closely at post honeymoon interest rates, escape fees, additional costs and charges (and what they mean to your real interest rate) and discounts on fees for linked accounts and insurances, but we will be looking most closely at their customer service record. We are fortunate to have easy access to internet forums and ombudsman's reports as well as brokers and smaller providers that are trying to get and keep our business. We are only one, small customer but many many other small customers are staring to think the same way and the bigger banks would do well to remember this. Earn our loyalty and you will have it.

Citibank wanted our business and once they got it, we were treated like second class citizens, specially when we wanted to talk to them on the phone. There personel didnt talk much english and to be honest, after the conversation with them, we left more confiused then ever. We also had a visa credit card with them, we couldnt wait to get out from them, Thank God Aussie home loans came to our rescue and got us out of citibank, I will never ever recommend citibank to anyone. But I am glad I have nothing to do with them again.

By this time you should be just about ready to be put through to someone. Make sure you have plenty of credit on your phone

YesWhile the bank has great internet service, they are physically not present, with only a few branches mainly in the big cities.There is nothing like face to face banking, and I do not have that option. Full review

Had a homeloan for a few years with this company and the service was terrible! Customer service is outsourced to india, simple requests like change of postal address took 4 seperate phone calla and multiple faxes and emails. the online portal is of poor standards and the only way to pay is by direct debit unless making additional payments via Bpay. Terrible service overall.

We dislike the lack of Physical Contact with staff of Citibank - there are no branches or ATM's and internet and phone banking is very clinical and impersonal. Also, the revolving line of credit is not really right for us as a home loan repayment plan. Their phone service is generally of a high standard and they do answer most issues/queries promptly.
