Cons:

I had no problem with my loan until I had paid it off, once I had paid it off I was still being charged fees for 3 months and had to contact them to stop this and finalise my loan which, because I paid it of early cost me more money. Was disappointed no effort was made to contact me once my loan was paid off.
They were helpful on the phone however I will never loan with the Commonwealth Bank again.

I have banked with the Commonwealt5h Bank for 30 years and when I applied for a loan to assist me both personally and in my business I was turned down.
All the way through the process i was assured that every thing would be fine.
I then, in fact, had to ring over and over only finally to hear that they had knocked me back.
As soon as I can find a better bank I will take all my accounts there.
The CBA is a heartless machine.

I was having problems with my personal loan/credit card and wanted to put both together, at the time they could not do it. The lady I had been dealing with made contact with me 6 months later as she had found a way to help me, I felt she went over and above her call of duty to me. My personal loan is now one that suits me and my needs. Well done CBA.

I trusted my bank initially but when it came to informing me that they had declined further hardship assistance and they had sold my personal loan to the Debt Collectors I was not notified. Strange how it all happened in the same week they announced their bank had made multi millions in profits.
Well of course they did, getting rid of my debt to them to another source such as a Debt Collectors Agency made their profit margin look even better.
I wonder how many other customer loans were 'sold' to debt collection agencies.
Thats the last time I bank with them and funding more trips to Hamilton island as well.
Now because of them I have to file for bankruptcy.
Go go go Commonwalth Bank, you just lost another dedicated loyal customer due to your lack of compassion and communication.
Now to find a trustworthy bank....
but who?.....??

This bank has a very hight interest rate backed with poor customer service. Not to mention the $8.oo per month account 'service' fee which is another compulsory charge added onto your debt. Their standard saving account also carries a $5.oo per month charge - for what purpose?

Of the top four banks I feel that there is not a lot of difference as you may get a bit more of one advantage but miss on another. I have found that the smaller banks tend to offer better or equal service to the big banks.

My bank manager is always in contact and checking up to see if im happy with the way things are going they have a competive rate and loads of extras and i can go see him anytime i want.

I have found the service at Commonwealth to be exceptional. The staff are always helpful and surprisingly cheerful and happy whenever I have been into the branch. It is a refreshing change to be able to go to a branch of a big corporation these days and be met by staff who actually seem to enjoy being at work.
The only thing I can say I dislike about my experience with Commonwealth is the fact that I don't get regular paper correspondence from them anymore unless it is an advertisement for some sort for a new product they are marketing. Even though so much of our lives are run by computers and automated, it is nice to receive things like statements or rate increases by mail especially without having to pay extra for the service.

Personal loans through Commonwealth Bank is a horrible experience and I wouldn't recommend them to anybody.
I was making double payments per week on a joint loan it was double from me and single for the other person. Even though i was making double payments, because the other person missed there payment they reefed $500 out of my bank 3 weeks in a row because of the other persons laziness. Which is appalling considering I was making double payments which I didn't have to do, but I still got punished for the other persons missed payment!

Loan is great, commonwealth were able to secure the loan in order to by myself a house. They were quite helpfull in lending the money. Altough trying to understand the interest reate and repayments was a little difficult. We had to go over it about three times before i could actually gain some knowledge on how home loans work.

Now my memory sometimes fails me but I am quite sure that I had been told that the interest rate was between 11% and 15% but somehow I ended up paying 16.5% even on a long loan. I also was not told that if I paid weekly I would save alot more money than if I paid monthly! I was not happy Jan.
Othe than that the service and help with everything else when I would walk into the bank was great.

Applied for a personal loan - not explained clearly why it was declined.Told twice to apply again in a months timeeach time declined.3rd time told that the bank wanted to see 3 months payments made on time,despite paying more than required each month and the late payment was due to overlap of salary and loan due date.Lender said she would ring in a months time to help reapply - a week later still waiting for call.Ad on TV where woman faints due to Bank calling her back makes me laugh.
