Have been recomending people who want a personal loan to commonwealth without a second thought. They don't try and force you to swap banks they give you the option and when you decline they don't keep pushing you. Cons: Suprisingly none.

  Personal loans have a pretty high interest rate because they are unsecured loans. If you want to buy a car it's a much cheaper interest rate to get a specific car loan, secured with the car you are buying. If you want to renovate or go on holidays...       Full review 

  Personal loans have a pretty high interest rate because they are unsecured loans. If you want to buy a car it's a much cheaper interest rate to get a specific car loan, secured with the car you are buying. If you want to renovate or go on holidays & own/paying off a house it's a cheaper interest rate to get a line of credit - that way you only pay interest on the amount you have used from the total amount available on your line of credit. If you have your whole pay paid into the line of credit it's a bigger saving still, then draw from the line of credit as needed. Think this is the cheaper way to go!

  I don't like the monthly fees. I think it's just double dipping on top of the interest that you get charged. The interest rate is also fairly average compared to other banks. I do love that I can set up the payments automatically and change it eas...       Full review 

  I don't like the monthly fees. I think it's just double dipping on top of the interest that you get charged. The interest rate is also fairly average compared to other banks.   Had an awful process applying for my personal loan...my personal details were 'lost' 3 times! In the end, I received my loan and am on my way to Paris next month! My advice, apply for a loan in person, that way everything is written in ink!       Full review

  Commonwealth have been very support and available whilst travelling around Australia. They have always been willing to go above and beyond to get us the product we want and as quickly as possible. They offer competetive rates and offer several options for the same products to ensure it meets your personal needs. We now have all of our accounts with Commonwealth because they are so pleasant and easy to deal with as well as offering such a variety of products.   Commonwealth Bank has been nothing but a MASSIVE Help, assisting me with a personal loan when desperately needed. I like this product because it doesn't seem like I'm out of pocket every month, as the interest rates that were given to me were quite low. But having said that there are a few times the interest rate had changed to a much higer rate leaving me unable to meet repayments on time. The Upside. Personal loans also include loans for educational purposes and holidays. Apart from these two categories, personal loans are usually Convenient if your short of cash, or emergency needs. But of course there is a downside.. - Inability to meet repayments. - If you miss a payment it effects you credit rating. - Interest rates change. :) :)

  I had been a member of the Commonwealth Bank since I was in primary school. The first time I used their services as a uni student - applying for a student loan - would be the last. Lazy staff, lost documentation and contradictory information (I was told after the approval of the loan that I should have just got a credit card instead) all left me feeling very frustrated and under-valued. I wasn't even notified after the loan was approved. I missed out on my trip to Egypt because the loan came to me so late....this is why I dislike the Commonwealth Bank.

  They really like to stuff you around try and charge you a higher rate than charge you a exit fee when you are consolidating the loan you already have with them. When you take your paperwork in they tell you the amounts don't match your information...       Full review 

  They really like to stuff you around try and charge you a higher rate than charge you a exit fee when you are consolidating the loan you already have with them. When you take your paperwork in they tell you the amounts don't match your information and say they can no longer process the loan. Once they have your business that's it no more help. They love to charge you an arm and a leg for the loan and say you have to pay a certain amount over x amount of years and when you get your first statement you find by paying that amount you will be paying it off quicker so we could of paid less each fortnight as we got the x years for a reason.   The comm bank say they have same day personal loan's (you apply for the loan in the morning and you will have the money by the afternoon), well this was not the case for us. We had to wait 3 days to get an answer on our loan. We were then told s...       Full review 

  The comm bank say they have same day personal loan's (you apply for the loan in the morning and you will have the money by the afternoon), well this was not the case for us. We had to wait 3 days to get an answer on our loan. We were then told someone from our branch would ring us to make a time to sign the contract, however no one did. In the end I went down there and asked what was going on, only to be told they knew nothing about the loan(mind you I recieved my letter of approvial via netbank). When we sat down to sign the contract, the person over the phone who did the loan filled it in wrong and we then had to apply for another loan!! This second loan also took 3 days for approvial. The hole process of getting a personal loan through the Commenwealth took just under 6 weeks and we also now have on our credit rating that we have applied for finance twice with them in the same month!   I have banked with combank since I was in primary school, I would never bank with anyone else, and although they have recently had some problems with their communication systems going down they have always been understanding in my time of need My husband had broken his foot and was out of work for 8 weeks and combank were more then happy for me to pay half payments until my husband was back at work. Only issue I have had is their interest rates can sometimes be slightly higher then their competitors but I would still not bank anywhere else :)

Fair enough if they thought I couldnt repay them but they gave no reason I since obtained on through another bank who I hadnt bank with much. I was contacted by the CBA on another matter and I asked why i didnt get the loan (after the other bank had given me one) and I was told I could extend a loan that was guarantored. well I was asking them to extend my home loan but I wanted a personal loan!!!   The rate is phenomenal, and then they charge you $10 per month account keeping fee. I have a home loan where they only charge $8 per month, and I deal with Esanda who charge $5 per month. And we wonder why the banks make spastic amounts of profit.       Full review
