  Pros: No recurring fees. Good interest rates. Intuitive and fast internet banking. Friendly and consistent customer service. Competitive range of products. I have been a loyal customer of ING Direct for 5 years and the savings account I set up has helped me pay for holidays, credit card debt incurred by holidays, emergency cash-flow issues, two cars and my house. Cons: Branch access can be problematic as it doesn't exist, which seems odd at first but if you embrace internet and phone banking you will come to realize just how convenient it is.   I like ING mainly because they don't charge fees, I know this may be because there are no branches and the connected bank do all the checks but I always liked the no fees part. I never had bank fees until I came to Australia and I didn't like them. The savings account provides a good rate of interest and now I believe other internet banks offer the same, but ING started it all. someone looking at a new bank account should sheck out all the options.   This product is called the Savings Maximiser - this bank isn't the most competitive for their interest rates in recent months but their service is fantastic. There is only one branch in Sydney NSW but you can bank online or other methods. I like the fact they don't prefer certain banks over others, which means that your transactions are cleared at the same time regardless of who you bank with. In their terms and conditions they promise to never introduce bank fees and they haven't in the time I have been their customer. They have great online tools like a savings calculator and you can set your account to automatically deposit money on a regular basis if you wish. It is also very easy to cancel this automatic savings plan 24hrs, 7 days a week online. I have been able to save for overseas trips in the past.   It is easy to access on internet banking and I can use any ATM and be refunded for the fee. I can also use instore access to cash. The everyday savings account can be used very successfully for paying bills etc and no fees are incurred.
