The offset account arrangement is great as it is very flexible. Make sure you've done all your renovations, gone overseas, bought your new car, etc before you pay off your loan. Get yourself a credit card and pay all your bills etc with it and have the full amount paid off every month automatically, just before the due date. This means that your savings remain untouched and instead of earning interest, they reduce your loan.

ME Bank offer great homeloan products. The flexibility for redraw and early repayment is ideal. They always pass on Reserve bank interest rate reductions immediately and in full. Customer service on the phone is always courteous and professional. They have mobile lenders so they come to us. We get a discount simply because we are in a union based superannuation fund. There are plenty of pros. The only con is that they do want their money back so you do have to pay off your mortgage eventually.

The staff are excellent! We banked with commonwealth bank our whole lives and paid off 3 personal loans and they wouldn't give us a home loan! Me bank did and not only have we paid extra but they helped us re finance for a new car on our loan and saved us heaps in interest! They treated us like individuals and the communication was fantastic! They respected us and our situation! Will be moving our savings accounts to them now! Highly recommend!

YesIf you get into trouble they are unrealistic in the payment plans for arrears. They make it impossible to pay back arrears aswell as keep your head above water in everything else, and the problem just snowballs. Full review

Their mortgage is fee free (except a dishonour fee) and even if you don't have an associated offset account, you can still access your mortgage account on-line and view statements, draw down on any payments made in advance etc. We approached the Greater, in an attempt to shop around to see if we could get a better deal and they advised us to stay where we were, as they couldn't do better than what we had. Is that your superannuation funds working for you or what!

Members Equity does not negotiate at all. They fail to recognise the following: 1. Excellent credit, equity and banking history 2. Customer loyalty 3. Volume of business with them 4. Reduced lending risk of some borrowers 5. Customer goals. The reason ME appears to maintain this inflexibility is that they wish to treat every customer the same. While that's a 'noble ethos', it's a recipe for lost business in an era of increased competition. We transferred some of our business to another bank recently and have been fraught with immense difficulty, delays, ill-will and repeatedly 'lost' documentation, heightening our resolve to make the switch _total_ and complete. Our other bank has always welcomed our business as a partnership, a mutually-beneficial relationship. They understand our goals. They're flexible. They offer superior packages. They promote and maintain a range of worthwhile rewards and incentives. How on earth did ME rate so highly in a recent survey of customers? It's beyond me!
