I like the internet banking on my Newcastle Permanent savings account - it is very easy to use. I like that if I go to the branch on Saturdays and weekdays they are open until 5pm & in some larger shopping centres they are open later on Thursday. I like the fact that I don't get charged monthly fees and that I just have to have my money with them & I don't get charged excess fees for using my eftpos card frequently because I have loyalty rewards for keeping a certain amount in my account. I also like my Rapid Saver account which is a passbook account linked to my internet banking so I have the freedom to transfer my money from my everyday account to my Rapid Saver account when I choose 24/7. I have just opened a Rapid Saver with them, it pays pretty good interest and if you do one deposit per month and no withdrawals you get the full rate. I also like that it is a passbook account, and the only branch is quite a distance away,so it will not be easy for me to get to my rainy day money which gives me less temptation to spend. Just arranged for a fixed amount to go in each week out of my other account, so I don't notice it going out. There are no fees or charges for having an account with the Newcastle Permanent Building Society unless I use my EFTPOS card excessively in any given month.
