  I love this product because St George make it so easy for someone working full time to apply for their mortgage over the phone and then handle all further correspondence by email. No need to take time off work or even have to go into the branch.       Full review

  St George have been supportive of our decision 12 months ago to payout our mortgage due to selling our home from financial distress. This of course was a heart breaking decision but the bank, our solicitor and family and friends have been amazing in their support.   Having previously been a mortgage broker for 5 years I was in a position to see a lot of products. The St George Lo Doc LOC Portfolio loan meets all my requirements. As I am self employed with my current business, it is handy using the LOC as an overdraft at very competitive rates. Ease of their website to pay bills and transfer money between accounts is very easy. When I have had to go into a branch the staff have been more than friendly and helpful. I even put my daughter onto a St George loan when she bought her home 3 years ago and she too has been happy with their products and service.   From experience St George offered future help during any difficult financial times, but when it came to the crunch this offer was reneged. An evaluation based on a fire sale price was conducted on behalf of the bank by a real estate agent no older...       Full review 

  From experience St George offered future help during any difficult financial times, but when it came to the crunch this offer was reneged. An evaluation based on a fire sale price was conducted on behalf of the bank by a real estate agent no older than 25 yrs, who was present for all of 10 mins in the property. And even when a payment plan was set up we still received monthly call from an overseas call center asking why payment was late. We are talking an amount of $90.00, not really a figure that would break the bank. We organised a report of the value of houses sold recently in the area after disputing the valuation as recommended by a bank representative, and even though the values were higher than their appointed real estate agents value, there was a rejection because we were told that they base the home value on a fire sale price and not the true sale value. I will never trust any representative from their establishment again.

  In addition to the loan repayment we incur fees of $15.00 per month. The interest rate is at best, market average and when approached to review the rate, they really let you know that you are too small a customer to worry about.       Full review

  When I set up my loan the settlement was delayed as the bank's back office was busy. This ended up costing me money due to timing of tax returns and additional fees with my old bank. I wrote a letter of complaint detailing what the delay had cost me expecting no response. To my surprise I got a call within a week offering to pay the amount that I had detailed directedly into my bank account and apologising for the delay. Wow! Since then I have always had every enquiry dealt with quickly and efficiently - they even answer the phone quickly too!

  The Home loan has competitive rates but the bank doesn't really cater for face to face customer service in regards to questions and adjustments to the home loan repayments. One has to ring the particular department in the bank and speak to someone over the phone. By making it hard to access the bank to increase repayments is like they don't really want the customer to pay off the loan faster than projected by the bank. It feel like a ploy by the bank.

  St George were awesome to get you in the door but have since been a source of disappointment. A process that took 1-2 days now takes 5-7 days. Phone operators are outsourced and the call volume borders on harassment.       Full review

  Their homeloans are easy to understand and they offer a portfolio loan which all your wage goes into and you just use your credit card for all transaction. This gets paid automatically each month so only 1 payment comes out of the account. Only ...       Full review
