A few years ago had a stgeorge savings and personal loan account, during hardship making repayments became difficult, instead of assisting me to get back on my feet st George withdrew funds from my everyday st George account "because they were linked" forcing me to change banks to have an income to live on. Getting the loan was easy, all done over the phone and a small amount of paperwork, but the aftersales support was lousy, very few options this would have been around 6 years ago.

The staff were friendly and very helpfull when my wife and I were shopping around the banks looking for a loan. People should always check what the fees are and always ask for a better rate than the bank offers.

St George have a great low interest rate on personal loans and no late fees are incurred on the rare occasions that i have had to make a late payment. Even applying and having the loan approved was so fast and easy and everyone i saw/spoke to was so kind and helpful.

I have been with St george for 5 years now I have been getting loans through them for 2 years. I think that while they can be good they need to make sure that the person is choosing the right option for them at the time as a lot of young people do not know what they are getting into and the bank takes too much advantage of that.

Truly at the end of the day banks are all very similiar and I guess your opinion is based on your experiences. St george have been fair I will say but there's no customer service.

I like the product because it suits my needs.
I don't like the fact that when you apply for x amount, you are told that you can have x+ amount if you want it.
I feel that this encourages some,(not all) people to overstep their affordable boundaries.
Nice to have extra, but you still have to pay it back.

I really have to comment on how great the service I received from St George bank when signing up to our personal loan. The girl was so helpful and went out of her way to make things easier for us. I have now transferred all my everyday accounts to ST George and will stay with them for the foreseeable future. Thanks again, we now seem to be in the best financial situation we have ever been!

The only item of contention was after applying for an increase in the loan, I was notified by a junior clerk that the full amount of the application was not granted and she had no idea of how I could appeal the decision!

It's not the product, it's the assistance that's offered I don't like.
1) You are often given incorrect or misleading info.
2) Often, the person who answers the phone is hard to understand because they do not speak English well.
3)Be care full when getting loan insurance. I found the information given extremely misleading.
