      This product rates an overall "average" score. Setting the initial Term Deposit up in the Branch was handled professionally and efficiently and paperwork and internet banking links followed up and the interest rate was in line with the best available at the time from other providers. The trouble came when the Term Deposit was due for expiry. No contact was made by any representative of the bank and their advertised rates fell short of other providers by around 0.30%. I have been banking with this institution for around 25 years now and have many different accounts and a not inconsiderable amount on deposit and yet they refused to match the rates advertised by other banks for a similar product when I telephoned their branch advisor. Their follow-up is poor, they then automatically rolled the funds into a term deposit which was a further 0.40% lower than their advertised for that day. NOT HAPPY JAN!!! Not a way to treat loyal customers. I would not recommend a Term Deposit from this institution.

      Anytime I ring my contact at St George bank - Crows Nest, she is always willing to go that extra mile for me. I recently had a death in my family and she arrange to have money in my account almost immediately.       Full review

      I'm generally happy with my term deposit but you need to be careful what term you choose as interest rates vary widely. Some are about the same as an everyday account! Not very enticing.       Full review

      I have been with St. George for many years and have found their staff, both phone and personal banking, to be friendly and efficient. If I needed help, they were there. If I could get better rates with another bank, they matched or bettered them. ...       Full review 

      I have been with St. George for many years and have found their staff, both phone and personal banking, to be friendly and efficient. If I needed help, they were there. If I could get better rates with another bank, they matched or bettered them. Their bank fees are almost non existent. The only thing to be aware of is that in Victoria they have been taken over by the Bank of Melbourne, and I am not sure how this product will be effected by the takeover.

      been with the bank for 30 years and they couldn't give me a good deal with the interest rate offered, I told them I'm going to another bank then they showed me how little the interest was but still didn't match it, so if I ever win lotto I will go...       Full review

      The term deposit with a minimum of $1000.00 is an excellent way for the young saver to really get serious with saving for the future. No other bank that I contacted offered this service. Most have a minimum of $5000 which is a lot of money to sav...       Full review

Most have a minimum of $5000 which is a lot of money to save on a minimum wage for a 16 year old. My daughter has now added to her initial deposit and will now bank with St George in the future. Well done St George

      I opened an account with them because I don't like all my eggs in one basket 'BUT" when I joined them the interest rate was the best. But there was a clause in very small print which said that interest rate was only for new accounts and stopped after 6 months which I didn't realise. I'm not impressed because I was not told of this until after I had deposited my money

      We have been with a number of other products and changed because we found that they did not provide a consistant service. We have been with Snt George for around Thirty Years and they have not only been consistant they have been able to provide at a competative rate as we pass through our stages in life - buy house - have children - educate children - help children as they develop their family situation - prepare for retirement. Communicate with this prduct and i would be surprised if they cannot provide.

      You need to find someone who will break the rules. I asked them when my term deposit expires, (in 2 days time) would they put the money into my savings account. I needed to make an appointment to go into a branch to do that.       Full review

      I like this product because although their interest rates may not be the absolute best, the staff always have my best financial interest in mind. They go out of their way to assist me. Thats what makes them my Number 1 bank.       Full review

      I have found St. George to be unfailingly helpful over the last 25 years, both in getting a mortgage, settling it in due course and helping me with overseas funds as required. Their interest rates on my Term Deposit have always been competitive and their phone banking service is Very Good. Also and unlike some other banks they have not had computer problems. Finally when I moved house from NSW to Qld they were able to get the settlement money to Qld very quickly to meet the purchasing deadline.

      Term Deposits are good however I have been very disappointed with the service I received when cashing a St George Bank Cheque and having to wait 3 days for their own bank cheque to clear before they could issue a new bank cheque. I can understand if the bank cheque was from another institution but not their own. Surely they can check on-line and see that they have issued this cheque and thus clear their own funds immediately.
