  2 years ago I had set up my Internet banking, as I do every 2-3 weeks. 2 of my bills were not appearing in my pending list but on my pay day the money would go out and the next day it would show up on my statement where the money had gone to. I had come across a flaw in their system and when I rung the computer technicians for this bank they could not explain to me what had been happening. On several occasions I would ring the bank and query the same problem but once again, no one could help me, and they would say it was a mistake that I had got wrong. I then decided to set up the same payment and then go into my local bank to ask the Bank Manager to witness this procedure and even he was confused as to what was happening. I was asked to not reveal this information and before I knew it there was a knock on my door....I had a package containing chocolates and cookies from guess who? WESTPAC. I never did get an explanation but the chocolates and cookies were very yummy.

  I use this account as my "Christmas Club" savings. I was impressed by how easy it was to set up, access and the fact that I earn "Bonus" interest if I deposit over $50 per month.   This bank always goes out of its way to help in anyway it can, especially when you don't understand bank terms. They are always very patient and don't hesitate to ask if you need more information.       Full review

  The convenience of having ATM's everywhere (and the Iphone app is awesome) keeps me banking with them. One of their major downfalls is the online banking, it's outdated and needs a major revamp. Commonwealth Bank's Online Banking is better.       Full review

  This is a business account and we have our own business manager at our branch, who is very pleasant and gracious to deal with. She is always helpful, has suggested and organised ways for us to earn more interest with a higher interest off-shoot account (no charges or fees on this account) and rings back promptly to answer queries. The account works well for us, there are small usage fees if we go over our transaction limit, but no additional charge because it's a cheque account. The only con would be that there is a transaction limit on this account. Although we keep in mind that we are dealing with a 'bank', we feel more secure as a business, being with a big very well-established bank .

  I like this product because when there are funds debited from my account and I don't have money sitting in there, there isn't any dishonour fees and I'm always left in credit even though it's only $1.00-$2.00 (every cent counts) :)       Full review

  I love my bank account with Westpac. I have everything I need in my combined accounts. I have immediate access through phone, mobile, internet and ATM's. They have adjusted my daily cash withdrawal limit to suit my situation, they have great facilities available for those of us with peak and flow income structures. And if something is not going right, I can ring and for the most part get the situation sorted or adjusted for me over the phone. Good on You Westpac.

  Since retiring 3 years ago I had (and still do have) an account with a credit union for a personal loan and an everyday transaction account. Each month I was getting billed for account keeping fees, not much, maybe $10 or thereabouts. This was having quite an impact on my aged pension, $10 is a lot out of one's pension. My daughter suggested I open an account with the Westpac Bank as they have an account for pensioners that are free of any charges whatsoever. I went into the Westpac Bank and an assistant took me into their office and we went through the types of accounts I needed. He was so thorough, his explanations were very easy to follow and also he was very friendly. Never once did he rush through anything, he made sure I understood fully everything he explained to me, and I did. The whole process took 2 hours. Normally I am full of questions but there were none to ask as he had covered everything and I came out of there feeling confident I had made the right move to switch my account from the credit union to the Westpac Bank. Its so nice to know that there is a bank who looks after the pensioners. I no longer have to worry about eftpos, atm, online banking fees ever again. That gives me peace of mind. Before I left the bank he did tell me that the bank would do a courtesy call to ask how I rated my experience on that day. Unfortunately they never did, which is a shame as I would have loved to comment on such a professional, friendly, courteous service I received that day and how special I was made to feel.

  The account is perfect for my needs. Based on my income the staff at Westpac signed me up with an account that has no fees or charges so I don't need to worry about leaving money in it to cover monthly account fees.       Full review

  When I started living in Blackheath there was a Westpac branch. It was closed and no ATM was placed in Blackheath. The nearest branch was Katoomba. Then after a couple of years, they closed the Katoomba branch - replacing it with an ATM machine. The nearest branch is now Leura. If I require a cash withdrawal, I now have to either use someone else's ATM - which incurs an extra fee- or drive to the nearest Westpac ATM at Katoomba, which is a 20km round trip which costs petrol. Is there any caring by Westpac for its Blackheath customers here? Apart from this, I find Westpac no better or worse than other banks ( I was going to say "competitors" but there really is no competition between banks - they are all equally as bad. I realise that banks are operating in order to make money, but they are really not interested in giving service to long standing customers. I have been a Westpac customer for over 25 years.

  One of the worst things about Westpac is that the maximum length of password for online banking is only 6 characters. The absolute minimum for a secure password is 8, but these days, with more powerful 64 bit systems it really should be 12.       Full review

  My Bank Account gives me a month by month graph of my deposits and withdrawals, which I find very useful, as it helps me with my budgeting. It enables me to see at a glance which month I have spent more than others, or had a bigger than usual deposit. It also allows me to set savings goals using an account that I select. It lets me set a date when I need to have saved a certain amount for things like Holidays, Weddings, etc. and then lets me know if I am on target to meet that goal or not.

  The best thing about Westpac is the convenience of having some branches open on a Saturday until midday. With a lost bank card it definately came in handy to be able to go into the bank on the weekend and still have access to cash.       Full review
