If saving is on your list of things to do in 2012, the ANZ Online Saver deserves a serious look in. This account has a great intro bonus rate of 5.50%, and fee friendly features like no account fees and minimum balance requirements. It also comes with Bpay functionality so you can pay bills direct from the account.
Key features: Stash your cash and reap in the rewards! The 5.50% bonus rate is available for new accounts. After the bonus rate period, the interest rate drops to 3.75% but this is still quite competitive as an ongoing savings account. Interest is calculated daily and paid into your account on a monthly basis.
You'll have to do all your transactions through phone or internet banking with the ANZ Online Saver as there is no ATM card or branch access. But the upshot to this is you'll never be slugged with transaction and account fees. Unlike many other online savings accounts where you have to transfer funds to a linked account to pay bills, the ANZ Online Saver features Bpay functionality so you can do all your banking direct from the account.
You can even open multiple ANZ Online Saver accounts under one name if you’re keen to save for a number of goals. Since no minimum deposit amount is required, this means that you can whip out your wish list and tick each one off as the interest earnings come in.
Who it's good for: If you're looking for a high interest savings account that lets you save for multiple goals, your cash will find itself right at home with the ANZ Online Saver.
Any catches? The bonus 1.75% interest rate is only offered to new ANZ customers. You'll also need to open an everyday ANZ bank account in order to access the funds in your ANZ Online Saver account.

Even though I do feel really sorry for mortgage holders and their costs but at least they are lucky to be able to of afforded to buy a property to begin with. Some of us will be renting forever due to circumstances.

The service is ok we just get a bit upset with them when they hold back dropping their interests rates especially when they keep on announcing huge profits. They should pass these things on to their clients. We do not hold our mortgage with the ANZ. Full review

The rates and are not very competitive...and to make things worse their staff are truly awful. If you want a bank that loses documents, doesn't mail things they promise to send, has mediocre rates and terrible customer service then ANZ is the ban... Full review

ANZ online saver has by far the best interest rate available (6.0%) of any major bank. Other major banks are under 5%. The only fees are a $2/month fee for the necessary associated transaction account. The ANZ bonus interest rate keeps being exten... Full review

The only fees are a $2/month fee for the necessary associated transaction account. The ANZ bonus interest rate keeps being extended beyond the initial advertised period by making a simple phone call and the customer service line is always answered in less than 1 minute. Even when the reserve bank dropped interest rates by 0.25% each in November and December 2011, the ANZ rate has only dropped from 6.25% to 6.0%. I have tried getting similar service from other major banks. ANZ just leave them for dead!

It's really easy to use. I don't have to pay any fees. I can simply transfer funds online from any other accounts and pay anyone anytime through internet banking. It's just really convenient for me. The customer service with ANZ is also awesome. I never have to wait for ages if i need to speak to a customer service provider and whenever i visit a branch i'm treated with respect and also quite promptly. Compared with my previous Bank, ANZ is brilliant.
