UBank is a new direct bank which is backed by NAB, one of Australia’s big four banks. UBank launched in 2008 with a competitive term deposit product, which customers can apply for and manage online. As a direct bank, UBank doesn’t have a branch network but it does have a 24-hour, seven day a week ‘person to person’ phone banking centre for those wanting to speak to a real person. Cost savings are passed onto customers in the form of higher rates and lower fees. UBank now has a range of competitive term deposits, super and savings accounts. In 2011, it launched UHomeloan for refinancing its first home loan product.

Be aware that the security checks can be quite complicated. Also the accent of the customer service, while is european, can be difficult to understand. Not all requests can be completed over the phone or internet and some paperwork will be require... Full review
Be aware that the security checks can be quite complicated. Also the accent of the customer service, while is european, can be difficult to understand. Not all requests can be completed over the phone or internet and some paperwork will be required. The rates are great. The online calculators, motivators, articles, etc are GREAT. The graphs which chart your money growth is fantastic. Overall, it's not 10 out of 10, but it's at least a 7 for the product simplicity and great rates. No excessive complicated fine print, etc...

Just after the May RBA cut of 0.50% I thought it would be wise to lock some of my savings in a term deposit. My UBank USaver account had just dropped from 6.01% to 5.51% but the 6 month TD rate was still stuck at 6.01%. I knew I had to act fast... Full review
Just after the May RBA cut of 0.50% I thought it would be wise to lock some of my savings in a term deposit. My UBank USaver account had just dropped from 6.01% to 5.51% but the 6 month TD rate was still stuck at 6.01%. I knew I had to act fast to lock in that rate, so I jumped online and applied through the UBank site. As I already had a savings account open, this proved to be a real breeze. I just clicked a few buttons, siphoned funds from my USaver into the new TD and bingo bango! I was rocking a great fixed rate. The 6 month term deposit rate has since falled to 5.61% and with the RBA expected to announce further cuts, I'm feeling pretty smart right about now. #wintime

We have used UBank twice for term deposits and can't rate them highly enough, the first term deposit we had with UBank we needed to terminate half way through term due to unforeseen circumstances. UBank's input and diligent response to our dilemma... Full review
We have used UBank twice for term deposits and can't rate them highly enough, the first term deposit we had with UBank we needed to terminate half way through term due to unforeseen circumstances. UBank's input and diligent response to our dilemma couldn't have been more positive they transferred the deposit overnight to us and charged a nominal fee for Admin. Most impressed
