Europe troubles are a bonus for Aussie travellers
Friday 11 May 2012
It may sound harsh, but the ongoing financial problems in Europe are actually working in favour of Australian travellers. Greece has been forced to accept a bailout from its fellow eurozone members and Spain is also in a great deal of trouble. The Spanish government had to partially nationalise major lender Bankia this week and the nation has racked up a huge deficit. Both of these countries are renowned as tourism hotspots and plenty of Aussies visit them each year. With the euro being so weak, tourists from down under can get far more value when searching for overseas travel money. The situation may encourage more holidaymakers to spend some time in a Spanish coastal resort or a Greek island – safe in the knowledge that their dollars are going to stretch much further than in previous years. Of course, there are plenty of other places to explore, as 17 countries use the euro and all will be providing excellent value for money at the moment. Have a question about travel money?
