Princess Beatrice loses princely sum after Beamer theft

Princess Beatrice has found herself £15,000 ($32,050) down after thieves made off with her prized BMW while she was out shopping in London.

The daughter of Fergie and Prince Andrew will likely be kicking her royal self after leaving the keys in the ignition while she popped into the shop.

However, the Sun reports that police may be feeling slightly sheepish as they failed to protect the car despite assigning the princess a 24-hour bodyguard.

London’s boys in blue have confirmed that they are investigating a car theft from a street in the capital, but would not be drawn on who the owner is.

A source close to Princess Beatrice described the event as “particularly embarrassing” for the police, although the 20-year-old was said to be feeling equally red faced after the incident.

It is possible that the princess may have learned a few slightly less embarrassing lessons about handling her assets had she not pulled out of a month’s stint doing work experience for the Financial Times in mid-2008.
