St George extends help to Queensland residents

St George has urged Queensland customers using its bank accounts and home loans services to get in touch as soon as possible if they have been hit by the recent storms.

The bank has said that the bad weather has had a “devastating effect” on some of its clients, adding that it would be working flat out to try and get them back on their feet.

“We encourage customers impacted by the storms to contact us as soon as possible. We will assess each customer’s case individually and assist them as quickly as we can during this difficult time,” said St George Bank general manager for Queensland Rhyll Gardner.

Help extended to customers could include the delay of payments on home loans and credit cards, carry-on finance and a restructuring of home and personal loan facilities.

According to Insurance Australia Group, repairing damage done to homes, cars and businesses during the storms could cost as much as $70 million.ADNFCR-1761-ID-18902974-ADNFCR
