Westpac weds the shining knight

Both Wespac and St George have welcomed the approval of their merger after a federal court ruled in their favour at the start of the week.

With just a few pieces of red tape left to cut, the duo will soon begin operating as one bank, with Westpac previously expressing its intention to provide the best financial services in the country.

Meanwhile, St George chairman John Curtis insisted that the company will retain its unique brand and customer service expertise when it moves under Westpac’s wing.

“Our customers will be able to enjoy the same exceptional St.George service – with the additional benefit of access to more than 2,700 ATMs across Australia,” he said.

Westpac chief Ted Evans has also claimed that the merger would allow the banks to offer customers strength and flexibility in these times of economic turbulence.

So too, both Westpac and St George customers can now also benefit from new low-interest home loans, as both have dropped their variable rates following the Reserve Bank’s cut earlier this month.ADNFCR-1761-ID-18887143-ADNFCR
