Aussie launches new credit card
Aussie has launched a new credit card that will save people money when they buy products from foreign websites.
The company conducted a study that showed 69 per cent of Australians have bought goods from overseas retailers, but 78 per cent do not know how much they are paying in international transaction fees.
Bosses at the firm said the new Platinum MasterCard cuts out these charges, which are typically valued at around three per cent of the overall purchase.
More and more people are doing their shopping via the internet and Mozo recently told news.com.au that goods purchased from other countries are still 46 per cent cheaper than if they were bought in Australia.
This is taking shipping fees into account and the huge differential is primarily down to the strength of the dollar at the moment.
Executive chairman of Aussie John Symond said: "With so many people shopping on overseas sites, our Platinum MasterCard card cuts out what amounts to millions of dollars in international transaction fees for online shoppers."
