Cash registers keep ringing
Sales-mad Aussies are set to spend over $5.5 billion between Boxing Day and the end of December in a bid to bag the best bargains, it has been revealed.
Following the recent news that consumers spent a record-breaking $38 billion in the run up to December 25th, the Australian National Retailers Association (ANRA) reported that a further $9 billion will be spent between January 1st and 15th.
Shoppers who have researched cheap credit cards in an effort to fund their post-Christmas purchases may have made a wise move.
Margy Osmond, chief executive officer of ANRA, stated that prices are set to rise during 2009, making now a good time to buy.
“It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of a bargain but we’d ask shoppers to consider the staff and be patient and keep their sense of humour. And more importantly, happy shopping,” Ms Osmond added.
People wondering whether they should cut back on spending should first ask themselves whether they could stop themselves going on shopping sprees, NineMSN recently advised.
