CommBank Checkout digital wallet launches in time for Christmas

The Commonwealth Bank in partnership with MasterCard has launched its CommBank Checkout digital wallet in time for the Christmas holiday period.

CommBank Checkout allows customers to make purchases from their smartphone or tablet at 180+ local  retailers and at thousands of MasterPass-enabled online retailers around the world.   

"This partnership with Commonwealth Bank is a leap forward for payments in Australia," said Matt Barr, MasterCard's Head of Market Development and Innovation, Australasia. "Harnessing the convenience and efficiency of the MasterPass service, CommBank customers will be able to pay for things whenever, wherever, with the convenience and peace of mind only the most innovative technology can provide."

According to Angus Sullivan, Executive General Manager Cards, Payments, Analytics and Retail Strategy for the Commonwealth Bank the bank's goal is to help simplify payments for their customers regardless of the channel they are transacting in.

"CommBank Checkout is a convenient and secure way for customers to complete their online purchases in Australia and worldwide which will be particularly handy with Christmas fast approaching," he said.

All purchases made with CommBank Checkout are covered under a 100% money back guarantee for any fraudulent transactions. 

While convenience is a major plus of digital wallets, Australians are being urged to watch their spending and monitor credit card account balances closely this holiday period to avoid getting into debt.
