Credit cards being used for shopping on smartphones
A growing number of Australians are putting their credit card details into their smartphones to shop online through the mobile devices, according to a recent study conducted by Google.
The country has the second highest level of smartphone penetration in the world and the report revealed that two out of five people will use their handset's mobile search function each day.
Almost half of those polled said they would look up and call businesses – perhaps with a mind to purchase goods with their low rate credit cards – using their smartphone.
Nearly the same proportion (45 per cent) asserted that they might end up visiting the bricks and mortar premises of a company they had researched on the internet through their mobile device.
Those that decide to buy items with their smartphones using their credit cards to pay for goods may want to heed the advice of Michael Daniels of mortgage broking group Smartline, who told the Mosman Daily that people using plastic should ensure they pay bills on time as failing to do so could make it harder to find home loans.
