Online credit card users urged to be cautious
Credit card users searching for cheap Christmas presents online have been urged to be careful.
Bosses at PayPal Australia have suggested a number of overseas retailers are targeting Aussies in particular because of the strong Dollar, the Courier Mail reports.
Spokesperson Adrian Christie told the news provider that while there are a number of bargains to be had from internet shopping, there are also plenty of pitfalls.
He indicated many stores offer cheap prices, but then charge excessive amounts for shipment to Australia. To counteract this, Mr Christie advised Aussies to scour the web for shipping voucher codes and promotions.
The PayPal representative also noted that shoppers should check to see if warranty periods are applicable in Australia and whether electrical items will actually work down under.
PayPal recently revealed 80 per cent of Australians have used their work computers to make personal online purchases.
