Qantas to bypass credit card companies
Qantas has announced that it wants to engage directly with its Frequent Flyer customers and bypass credit card companies in dishing out the bonuses.
Customers who have racked up credit card reward points will now be given a final choice to convert them into Frequent Flyer points before a deadline on April 1st, when Qantas will start offering the air miles directly.
The company expressed its desire to go over the heads of credit card companies last year.
"We have had problems where different card issuers converted reward points from their programs to frequent flyer points at different rates," said chief executive of the scheme Simon Hickey.
He added that many customers did not know that some credit cards would offer better rates than others.
"Now one point is one point," he added.
Qantas is urging Aussies to ask their credit card provider if they will still be taking part in the scheme after the April 1st deadline.
