Qantas-Woolworths rewards do not extend to credit cards
Qantas Airways has stepped up efforts to encourage its customers to sign up for a Woolworths loyalty card.
Shoppers can use the loyalty cards to gain frequent flyer points for use on the airline, but the cooperation does not extend to credit cards, the Age reported.
Qantas has told the six million members of its frequent flyer club that they will soon be automatically signed up for a Woolworths’ Everyday Rewards card.
However, frequent flyer members who contact Qantas about the offer are encouraged to sign up for an ANZ Qantas credit card, and not for a Woolworths credit card, the newspaper noted.
Meanwhile, the Woolworths credit card does not allow users to accrue Qantas frequent flyer points directly as some other cards do because the Qantas-Woolworths frequent flyer deal was confirmed after the credit card was launched.
The news may encourage Aussies to compare credit cards in search of the best reward schemes. The consumer advocate group Choice recently found that credit card customers may be paying more than they expect in interest charges because of a range of hidden fees.
