Reality star to help launch credit card

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian is helping to launch a new credit card aimed at teaching teenagers how to spend their money responsibly.

The entrepreneur has joined forces with MasterCard to launch the prepaid service, which allows parents to give their children small amounts of credit in order to better monitor their finances.

Australian consumers could be among those encouraged to compare credit card deals following the launch of the service.

A spokesperson for Mobile Resource, which is helping to launch the card, said: "Teens do not spend their money as their parents think they do … I give my son a small amount of cash and track his spending on his card."

Kim rose to fame on the TV show Keeping up with the Kardashians and has since been involved in a number of fashion and entertainment projects.

Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian are also behind the project and will join their sister at the launch party later today (November 9th).
