Shoppers profit from huge pre-Christmas discounts
Australian shoppers are benefitting from a massive Christmas sales push as desperate retailers attempt to make up for a slow year, it has been revealed.
According to the Courier-Mail, a number of major retail chains are seeking to attract shoppers by starting their Boxing Day sales online on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
For example, it noted that consumers will be able to access Myer's annual stocktake sale online from 8pm on Christmas Eve (Queensland time), with a number of major fashion retailers planning to do the same.
Speaking to the newspaper, Myer spokesman Mitch Catlin said that despite the challenging year, the store was confident that the annual stocktake sales would encourage a strong showing from shoppers.
Australians aiming to boost their spending power this Christmas could choose to compare credit cards in search of the best deals. Earlier this week, the Commonwealth Bank Business Sales Indicator showed that the drop-off in spending among Australian debit and credit card users appears to be slowing and there is now "light at the end of the tunnel for retailers".
