Social commerce is set to take off
The popularity of social networking sites has exploded on a global scale and you will be hard pushed to find somebody who does not have either a Facebook or Twitter account.
While many of us only use such websites to keep up with the latest gossip or to follow celebrities, technology experts believe social media platforms will take on greater importance in the near future.
Senior vice president of strategic sales and business development at Yes-Wallet.com Simon Curtis predicts that "social commerce" will start to become increasingly popular around the world.
In his opinion, people will be able to use their credit cards to buy items directly from traders via social networking sites.
"We see that social commerce will be the next phase of social media. Making purchases directly through social media sites rather than from the sellers web site," he remarked, before adding that many businesses – particularly fashion brands – have increased their sales by boosting their presence on social networking platforms.
