Westpac voted worst bank in customer survey

Westpac has been voted the worst bank for customer satisfaction in the same week it announced bumper profits in its half yearly results.

According to the Daily Telegraph’s Banks versus Battlers Survey, which polled almost 3,000 Australians and New Zealanders, 42 per cent of Westpac customers are dissatisfied with the bank’s performance against only 18 per cent who said they were satisfied.

The Commonwealth Bank was ranked the second most unpopular bank, with 31 per cent of customers expressing dissatisfaction, followed closely by ANZ, where unhappy customers account for 30 per cent.

Such hostility towards the major banks appears to have been driven by money worries, with 29 per cent of all respondents admitting they are ‘uncomfortable’ with their level of debt, while 16 per cent said they are ‘very uncomfortable’.

The news may interest Aussies who wish to compare credit cards in search of the best bank services and cheaper rates. A recent report by the credit information agency Veda Advantage revealed that 64 per cent of Australians are planning to reduce their credit card debt in the coming six months, with almost half planning to pay the full amount.
