Mozo Review   Citi Simplicity Review

Last updated: 29 September 2017.

What's hot:
  • No annual fee ever

  • 5% cashback for the first 90 days

  • 0% on balance transfers for 15 months (with 1.5% BT fee)

What's not:
  • Balance transfer offer reverts to high 19.99% purchase rate

Mozo snapshot:

The Citi Simplicity Card has all the features you'd expect in a good credit card without the high price tag. There is no annual fee ever, you'll get up to 55 days interest free, free wine when you dine with the Citi Dining Program and the convenience of worldwide acceptance with Visa and Visa payWave. Plus for the first 15 months you'll enjoy 0% on balance transfers and 5% cashback on eligible purchases for the first 90 days from card approval.

Key features:

The Citi Simplicity Card has a standard purchase rate of 19.99% p.a. You'll get up to a generous 55 interest free days if you pay your balance off in full each month and you'll pay no fees on the card ever, this includes annual fees, late payment and there are no fees if you want to have an additional card holder for the account.

The Citi Simplicity credit card can be used in Australia and around the world where ever Visa is accepted. If you use your card overseas or when shopping online there is a 3.40% foreign exchange margin that will be added to the Australian dollar amount, so be sure to factor this in to your budgeting.

While there isn't a rewards program attached to the Citi Simplicity card you do get some great perks. This includes free wine when you dine with the Citi Dining Program, 24/7 Platinum concierge and access to the Visa Platinum Privileges program.

It also comes with a slew of complimentary insurances including Transit Accident Insurance, Purchase Cover Insurance, Extended Warranty Insurance and Guaranteed Pricing Scheme.

Who it's good for:

Anyone who hates paying fees for credit card features they'll never use and will be diligent at paying off their balance in full at the end of the month to avoid paying interest.

Any catches?

Even though Citi won't charge you if your late paying your balance, it is still a good idea to automate payments. New credit reporting means that all late payments are marked on your credit file and it can affect your ability to get credit into the future so don't make it a regular habit.

    Great at offering new products

It is hard to get in touch with a real person unless they call you for a new product.
