Looking for a classic credit card to help you ditch debt? With an enticing 0% introductory balance transfer rate for 20 months the Westpac 55 Day Credit Card could have you sorted. Better yet, you’ll keep the costs down with the $0 annual fee for the first year, and in each subsequent year when you spend $5,000 or more on purchases.

Key features:

As the name suggests the Westpac 55 Day Credit Card is ideal for cardholders who are wanting to avoid debt, with up to 55 interest free days on your purchases when you pay off your balance in full by the due date. Just make sure you keep track of your payments, otherwise you’ll be stung by the 19.84% purchase rate and the $15 late payment fee.

If you’re wanting to take advantage of the card’s lengthy 0% balance transfer rate to manage some existing debt be sure to pay if off before the 20 month introductory period ends, as the balance transfer rate reverts back to 21.29%. And bear in mind there is a 2.00% fee of the balance transfer amount if you’re transferring a balance onto the card.

The Westpac 55 Day Credit Card has a $0 introductory annual fee for anyone in the first year, and a low $30 fee for future years. You’ll even be able to avoid an annual fee altogether after the first year if you spend more than $5000 on purchases each year.

As part of the Visa network you’ll be able to use your card all over the world, while Visa payPass means you can use your card to tap-and-go for in-store purchases under $100. If you do choose to travel with your card, just watch out for the 3% foreign exchange margin.

Who it's good for:

The Westpac 55 Day Credit Card is great for anyone looking for a low cost credit card with a great introductory balance transfer rate that will enable them to pay off debt over a long period.

Any catches?

Just avoid the temptation to withdraw cash with your card, because you’ll be hit by the 21.29% cash advance rate.

I went to the bank to open a bank account with just my name and in the end I also had an appointment with the advisor for the next day with my husband and myself. By the time we left the next day she had saved us a lot in our home insurance content insurance and we changed our cars over. So all up she was very nice, she knew what she was talking about.
